Yes it is short. The average male is 5ft11 so falls quite a bit short.....that's if we're talking about the length of the body :-)

It's average. Yao Ming is the rare, really far above average height. According to most health tables, men usually wind up between 5'8" and 6' tall.

5'7" is average for a woman.

BUT, it also all depends on where you live. In Japan and China, the natives are naturally shorter than someone from, say, England, but that doesn't make them any less of a person, does it?
