I wouldn't classify it as a spanish treat. it originated in Europe and is popular in Spain, but other places also.

But Yes flan is slightly sweet. not overbearingly sweet either which is nice :)

Flan is awesome, and sweet.... but you have to know how to make it, otherwise it will taste like nothing... i've had awesome flan, and then sh*tty flan, i mean it tasted like nothingness...

There is 2/3 cups sugar in it.

Depending on the person who makes it, they could add more sugar if they like but then it would alter the flan altogether.

yes. its creamy custard with caramel sauce. it has a milky smooth taste to it. personally, i dont like it though.

It is slightly sweet but not overly sweet.  It has more of a milky taste than a sweet taste.
