Is oatmeal healthy? I bought a box of Millville oatmeal(off brand) and it has 5 different flavors. Cinnabun, Brown Sugar, Peaches and Cream, apple cinnamon, and Strawberries and cream. I was just wondering If these are healthy? They have about 25 carbs a packet. Are these good carbs? or bad? I know the oatmeal packets contain 8 grams of sugar too. Or should I just stick to Plain oatmeal?

Thanks!!!

  1. If you get the lower-sugar and weight control ones..[quaker]

    weight control usually has around 160 a packet [i think because of fiber or maybe more portion,it's to help you feel fuller]

    lower sugar -

    maple and brown sugar - 120

    apples and cinnamon - 110

    strawberries and cream - 130

    oatmeal is a main part of my diet, some days I will have it for bfst, lunch and dinner.I'm losing weight too!

  2. The oatmeal in packets is not as good for you as just plain oatmeal, which I eat, but I'll tell you that if you add a sugar substitute and cinnamon, it tastes a heck of a lot better.  Also, try mixing strawberries or peaches or blueberries or even a banana with your oatmeal.

  3. Flavourings and sugar make healthy foods unhealthy.

    Apple = brilliant.

    Toffee apple = terrible.

    The same thing is happening here.

    If you want something tastier than plain oatmeal, try a nice (low in sugar and flavourings) toasted muesli with some dried fruits in it.

  4. Plain oatmeal you get out of that large tall container thing is the best

    and bowl it over the stove

    and add a little milk and maybe a little sugar

    PERFECT :)

  5. i lovey love looooove the apple cinnamon kind, but it has a lot of sugar, and not enough protein to last me through lunch.
