  1. Depends on what you mean by good. yes of course it is . it`s as strong, as limp, as abrasive resistant etc.It will also catch as many fish. It`s all about what you feel confident with. fish don`t care.

If it really was important with today`s technology they could figure out what is best. but when a brand comes out with a new gimmick everyone is on it for a while .fluorocarbon,Cajun, camo line etc. After the fad fades they come out with a new gimmick.

if you  still have doughts about line visibility experiment.get a clear glass of clear water and insert the end of each line in the glass.

    Suggestion:

Select the one that appears to be least visible.

Line diameter and lb. test is more important.

The gimmicks are for the money

  2. No the real thing is better, the coated stuff is just a standard nylon line that has been treated with a fluorine coating, the real stuff is better as it has a thinner diameter and is allot tougher than coated, plus it sinks better and is ALLOT less visible under water. If your fly fishing and need a fluorocarbon leader great brands to try are airflo g3 and grand max.

  3. it depends on what brand and what line strength.

a fluorocarbon coated line i use would be the P-Line fluoroclear

a 100% fluorocarbon line i use is the seaguar invizX

when i'm fishing ultralight (2-4 lb. line), there is not much of a difference in visibility. however, as i get to 6 lb.+ line, there are some visibiity differences. personally, i like to use 100% fluorocarbon when fishing because it sinks easier.

the good thing about 100% fluorocarbon is that you can sometimes eliminate the use of a leader. i like to use 100% fluorocarbon line when fishing for trout because it's easier for those small lures to sink. however, i don;t notice a big strength difference between these two types of lines.

hey, what you pay is what you get...! :)

  4. Wow! What a great question! I don't have a definite answer, but I do use P Line CX 4-6lb. line for my ultralight fishing. It's fluorocarbon coated (actually a copolymer) and I have never had a single problem with it. Matter of fact, I find it a little more manageable that 100% fluoro. It's probably 10 to 12 bucks cheaper too! I do use 100% fluoro on some of my reels, and I find the fluoro coated line offers the same amount of pros with less cons. That's just my opinion and what works best for me. Sorry I don't have a definite answer.
