Me and my sister are going to stay in Paris for 2 days spanning from Monday morning till Wednesday afternoon and i was wondering how much euros i would need for food during those days.

Considering we both do not eat alot, i want to know the typical average prices for food in paris in euros or roughly how many euros we would need to spend on food for the 2 days.

i.e. Breakfast

Lunch

Dinner.

We won't be buying any snacks as we'll be bringing that with us in advance.

Any help will do.

  1. It really depends on what you want to be eating...

For example, to be really 'cheap'...

You could a croissant at a patisserie for about 1 euro.

    Coffee is another 1-2 euros.

Lunch, you could have a 'jambon beurre' sandwich-typically 3 euros, but a drink ~2 euros.

Dinner again you could do a simple sandwich option...

I'm not advocating not partaking in good restaurant food, but if money is a concern, you can eat cheaper doing things like that. Note also that places will charge you a bit more if you eat there, rather than taking it to go (for a sandwich for example).

Consider finding a supermarket and buying things there. There are many parks in Paris--have a picnic!

    bon voyage!

  2. keep in mind that the exchange rate right now is ridiculously terrible, so no matter what you eat, the dollar won't get you very far.  (assuming you are american)

  3. Food, at least restaurant food, is not cheap in France. It is, however, good value for the money.

It would be absurd to go to the world capitol of gastronomy and not eat.

You may not ordinarily eat a lot but eating ought never be about amount so much as about quality anyway.

Look around Paris at the other women. You won't see many fat ones. Yet they know how to eat well.

Breakfast in France is usually very simple, just cafe au lait, bread or sweet roll and perhaps a glass of juice. You can get this in any non-famous, non-touristy cafe for around 7-8 euros.

Lunch is usually a good time to eat your largest meal of the day. Many places have inexpensive lunch menus. Along the rue Mouffetard in the 5th arrondissement you'll find dozens of restaurants ofereing three course meals with wine for 12-15 euros.

Dinner is eaten very late by English and American standards; usually no earlier than 7:30 PM. A sandwich such as a Croque Monsieur (grilled ham and cheese) can be had for 7-8 euros in a cafe. Street stands also offer good values in sandwichs and other light food.

  4. There are in Paris many cheaper restaurant.

Breakfast : You can buy croissant (1 euros) in a boulangerie and drink a cup of coffee (1,5 euros) in a café.

Lunch : There are "menu du jour" in every restaurant from 8 to ... euros.

Dinner. A sandwich in "boulangerie Paul" there are good bread with jam, saucisson, salad, tomatoes, eggs... 5 euros.

You can go to "Paul" for lunch too.

Try a typical french restaurant, but warning to "attrape tourist" : food isn't good and it's expensive.

    Good journey in France
