Is football a real sport? Apparently not to some people

I have a co-worker that said that American Football is not a real sport because its not played in the olympic games. What is your opinion on this is she an idiot? What do you want me to tell her on your behalf?

Well of course it's a real sport.  There are many real sports that are not played in the olympics including Australian Football or Lacrosse.  

But American Football can't be played in the Olympics.  No one else knows how to play it.   I really wish American sports were more international.  Basketball is by far the most international of the American games.

So when baseball and softball are removed from the 2012 olympics, theyre not sports right.  and im sure that golf is not a sport just bc its not in the olympics.  thats dumb to think football isnt a sport bc its not in the olympics.  football requires many different skills to play
