Is football a waste of time?

Im just about to become a senior and I haven't gotten the starting job. I spent the most amount of time in football than many other things...and now I get 2nd string to a guy whos a heavy drinker that doesn't get caught?

It feels as if I had wasted my precious time on something that hasn't gotten me anywhere...Really? When you looked back at your days of high school football if you were 1st string or 2nd string or even 3rd string....Was it truely worth that amount of time you spent

OR could that have gone to something better like education...

If being a starter is your objective then you would define your experience as a waste of time.    Over 90 precent of the players in the high school game are wasting thier time.  In fact, a college scholarship is probably a worse event than not being a starter on the H.S. team.  The scholarship football player is an employee of the university.  The NCAA is a 12 game regular season plus post season. Some fans are crying for a playoff system on top of the absurd schedule.   I guess it is to help the ole college team to reach revenue levels to allow a $10 million a year head coach.  Ain't sports grand?

you have not wasted your time -you have stayed on the field where you could have been on the streets doing drugs etc-good luck to you and if you have to be second string that is better than being # 1 in prison

nah dude, keep it up, just work as hard as you can, cuz when he gets caught and suspended and u go out and the field and produce, you will be the starter even when this drunken ******'s suspension is over

Just get out and focus on school. The damage to your body is not worth it unless you're to get a scolorship. My back still aches to this day from playing.

If he's drinking and not taking care of his body and still wins the starting job. That's a good sign you're not going far in football.
