Question:

Is football really a weak sport?

Considering the fact that some players only play for half the game or less and that they are given ample time between plays, that last merely seconds. Come on people! How hard is it really compared to sports such as soccer? hockey? even ballet?!?!

  1. Being a hockey player myself that has been also playing football for years, it definitely depends on the position.  Hockey takes stamina of being able to skate a lot at once and break for a shift or 2 to recover.  Football is different but it still depends on the position.  Players such as quarterbacks and punters don't need to be in as good shape as players such as receivers, rb's, db's, etc.  For these players though, even when they aren't in on the play, they still have to run routes, block, cover, etc. so they need to be in good shape.

Try out running full speed for 50 yards and taking a 30 sec break.  Do this 10 times or more and that is only 1 drive.  After you consider how many drives of these they need to do, you'll realize it's harder than you think.

  2. Depends on the football.  My experience is mostly with Aussie Rules but also Rugby League, Rugby Union and Soccer.  Some games you play hard and fast all game.  Nothing can break you.  On other days you can cop a hard hit or an awkward fall in the first few minutes and be taken to hospital!

(My record is the first touch of the game, I dislocated my finger!  No if having your thumb bent at 180 degrees to your little finger and crying a bitis weak.. I'm just a big pussie)

Of those sports Aussie Rules is the toughest.  Soccer is the softest but also incredibly skillful.  I'm an accredited Hockey umpire and that is also a very brave and strong sport!

Ballet - that is tough, tough, tough!  Many top footballers wouldn't survive what the guys do!

  3. No, it's just boring

  4. Each play is an explosive action. When two lineman are battling, its the equivalent of each player trying to push as much weight as they possible can. Recievers run a full sprint which is the same as someone running a sprint in track and field. Each collision can be compare to being in a car wreck.

  5. it depends on where its being played. In places like Spain, France, Japan and in Australia, the football is not very physical. But in Russia, Germany and especially England, there sometimes play more physical then rugby.

  6. I can only suggest that you go and try playing, it is defiantly harder then it looks and  the equipment weighs like 10 pounds, on some days it can be very hot then on some days it be cold and snowing, and all the players are all trying to be very physical all the time

  7. Its a game of speed and strengh, total opposite of weak

  8. Not all. American football is best.
