  1. Take this from Mark Dotson, high school track star, form is important to a certain extent. You do not want to have some super crazy form but everyones form will vary a little. Try keeping your arms tucked in so they are not flailing everywhere and this will also help with keeping your stride straight and balanced so that you will conserve energy.

  2. Yeah it is ,i have to be in top form to run

  3. Good running form is all about conserving energy, being able to breathe effectively and making efficient use of motion.

    (1) Head up, back straight, shoulders back (don't slouch).  This helps with breathing and reduces strain on your back and shoulders, improving comfort, endurance and speed.

    (2) Keep all of your movement in the same plane you're running - don't swing arms or legs out to the side, pump them forward/backward in the direction you're headed.

    (3) Try to keep your hands/forearms relatively low on your body; they'll naturally rise up as you run faster, and that's fine, but keeping them low conserves energy.

    (3)  Keep your body relaxed.  Don't tense your hands, arms, neck, torso - this wastes energy and restricts motion, slowing you down.

    (4)  Try to move your pelvis forward - make an "Elvis pelvis thrust" and try to hold it that way when you run.  This position adds speed; I don't know why, but it works.

    (5) Don't bounce when you run, try to keep an even glide.  Bouncing wastes energy and costs speed.

    (6) Breathe.  Ideally, in through the nose and out through the nose and mouth; obviously when you're breathing hard it'll be "anything goes", but let that be your starting point.

Like any other sport, if you discipline yourself to use good form, the speed and endurance will follow - and you'll have fewer injuries.  I'm a lifelong runner and even I don't always have great form, but more often than not I do because of habit.

  4. yes, if you dont it can hinder how fast you go or even cause injury, i know because i used to hold my shoulders up a little high and i never really noticed until i started having shoulder problems and my coach helped me out

good form could mean ur shoulders could be in the wrong postion; ur back could be slumped; it could be something with your legs

  5. good running form is upright with arms swinging front to back( not side to side) and your fist passin just past your hip with each stroke

  6. Good form in the sense of technique?

Usually refers to the torso in an upright position with full leg extension where arms swing through high. Can also refer to foot placement, running on your balls with minimal heel contact.

  7. Form is important.

You don't want to bounce into the air as you run- it's

    not efficient.

Running is also tough on the joints- ankles, knees, etc.

As someone above mentioned, you don't want to

smash your heels into the ground as you run. Run

    with your weight forward.

Shin splints can occur if you go too far, too fast.

You might consider cross training- maybe some cycling

and swimming along with a run 2-3 times a week.

  8. Yes, it makes your body mechanics efficient. You have to know how your feet impacts to the ground, balance of your 2 leg power, stride length and speed, and ergonomics.

  9. running form is the most impotent part of running. to have good running form keep you head looking forward  breath deep and don't land on our heel when running

  10. yes

    if you have proper form

    you burn more calories

    and

lessen the risk of hurting something
