Is formula okay cold until it's time to give it to the baby to keep it good, or should I just throw it out?

Kenity acts like my breast milk isn't filling her up anymore so I decided to try formula and breast milk and she didn't want to finish the formula and it was mostly full so can I put it away and warm it up later or will it go bad?

  1. usally after 2 hours they consider it bad, so if it's been out more than that dont put it in the fridge otherwise I dont see a problem with it

  2. I have a 4 1/2 month old who I've feed COLD formula to since he was about 3 weeks old. Doesn't hurt him at all. You may not want to refrigerate it too many times as bacteria will start to grow in it eventually after warming up. The only problem I find is most formulas wont mix or dissolve perfectly when mixing with cold water. Babies are fickle. If they want to eat they will, no matter the temperature, time or taste. They have the ability to eat exactly what they need when they need it as their little bodies grow.

  3. Throw it out. It's only good for 1 hour after you begin a feed. BTW, if your baby is still hungry, it is probably a growth spurt and more nursing, not formula, is best. Also if she's over 6 months, it might be time for some solids.

  4. If your baby has already begun drinking out of the bottle, but there is still some left over. the bottle is only good for a hour. if you make a bottle... and wait to give it to your baby, then its good up to two hours.

  5. The "status quo" answer is "no", but most women will admit (under duress) that they have saved formula not used from one feeding, for the following feeding.

  6. you shouldn't save a bottle after she has had it in her mouth because bacteria can grow in the nipple and milk. give her a little bit in the bottle at a time then you won't lose so much. as a rule, you should throw out any formula bottle she has started after one hour.

  7. it is recommended that you throw it out and make a fresh bottle when the baby is hungry again.  Bacteria from the baby's mouth gets in through the nipple and can contaminate the formula. (read that right out of the book from similac)

  8. i have always refridgerated my sons formula after he starte don it and he is a healthy 1 year old. just dont heat it once then put it in the fridge. maybe heat it when you take it out of the fridge but honestly, my son has always loved the cold formula.

  9. Once a baby has had some of the formula, you can only keep it around for an hour.  Bactieria has been introduced to it and it will go bad.  Unused formula can be stored in the frig for up to 24 hours.  Read your formula can label for all the details.

Short answer - You should throw it away after an hour.

  10. Formula is only good for a couple hours, it's not a good idea to save it, try making smaller bottles so there's  less to waste.

  11. Don't save it, just throw it away.  It collects too much bacteria and your baby can get sick.
