Is four winns a good company to buy a bowrider from?

I am going to buy a 2002 22' four winns bowrider. It has a volvo penta 225hp engine. There is about 75 hours o the engine. The person wants about 15 grand and i'm not sure if it comes with a trailer and I'm not sure what model it is either. Is this a good boat though? I am very interested in this boat and want to buy it but not sure if it is a good boat and is it at a good price?

4Winns makes a great boat!! but I don't know if I'd go 15 with even 10hr's on it , checked the price of oil lately, mortgage crises, these boys are hungry! you can do better! take my word for it!! seen a 18 sea swirl for 6k just the other day near new!!

My In-laws have that boat or maybe a different model but pretty much the same boat and with a duel prop it will run 60MPH and is a great boat. Check out NADA.com to find out if it is alittle to much $$$. It sounds just alittle steep to me. I am sure the boat comes with the trailer.4winns is better than lets say a bayliner but there are better ones that cost MORE.If you can get it for the right price then you will not be disapointed.

if you want the perfect bowrider runabout, buy a yamaha exciter. It has twin jets and will reach a top speed of 62 mph. you can go in the shallow water as well. The boat your lookin at is at a great price (the four winns) but I would go with jets when it comes to runabouts and such. The only bad thing about teh yamaha is that it's only 16 feet.

I used to wash and prep these boats new about 10 years ago or so.   I think that is what they sold for new back then.  I wonder if that helps.

Four Winns is a good boat,I personally like Starcraft but in reading the other input from the other viewers Crownline is also a good choice.

Is the boat stored -dry dock? Meaning up out of the water-not on a trailer? If so you will be looking at approx 1500 bucks for a trailer because you will need one with brakes and a tandem axle.

If this boat comes with a trailer with brakes and the tires and wheel bearings are in good shape then YEA you getting a good deal!

TEST DRIVE IT B4 YOU BUY IT!!! IF you have any questions take it to a dealer to be checked out....

I sold boats in the North Atlanta area 2004 and 2005.  Our main lines were MasterCraft and Monterey.  I did sell a couple of used Four Winns, one I almost bought myself.  Insure the year is correct by going to the serial number on the back of the boat to the right.  Last two digits indicate year.

Four Winns is a good boat, especially as a first time purchase.  If I recall this sounds like a decent price but do your homework.  Ask the owner why they are selling?  Call the mechanic they used.  Call some local dealers, especially Four Winns and get their opinion.  Everyone in the world knows you will need a trailer and if a price is quoted I am certain the trailer is included.  Just like a used car pay a boat mechanic to check it out thoroughly.  With the owner go for a test ride.  You drive and then let them drive and you sit in the back listening to the engine.

In selling boats I made sure a buyer had a proper vehicle to tow.  V-6 engines are too small for a 22' boat.  You have the weight of the boat, gas weighs 7 # per gallon, plus the trailer is approximately 1,000 #, a lot of weight is being pulled for a 22' boat.  You will ruin a V-6 with this boat quickly.

ask him for a specific model number then go to nada.com. they'll give you a reasonable price quote to negotiate from (it tends to run a little high), though. Sounds like a nice boat with enough power for the size. My 20' Maxum has a 135 hp Mercruiser and it's not a problem pulling a skiier with 7 people in the boat. Make sure to get a trailer!
