  1. Well, Paris is getting less and less safe. Really. I suppose it's the same in other cities.

Try not to be in subway after 11PM.

Try not to be in eastern Paris or suburb after 10PM.

Areas such as 5th or 6th "arrondissement" are safe 24/7, although many young and posh people are drunk from sundown to 10AM, but they're not dangerous.

  2. What happened? Did you get attacked or have an accident? France is in general a very safe place to be. Unfortunately crime and accidents happen everywhere, but I can guarantee that you are less likely to be physically assaulted by a stranger in France than in the English speaking world.

  3. What happened?       When I was over in England, I witnessed two street fights but I did not return to France claiming that England "ain't safe".....!

  4. Care to elaborate... "almost killed"?

I've been to France lots of times and it is perfectly safe.  I would walk anywhere in Paris day or night (as opposed to many areas of NYC, Chicago, Detroit, LA, etc. )

  5. I love France and traveled all over the country in small groups of people using rail and subway and we felt safe all together.  However, there are certain areas of France that I would not travel without a man with me, especially areas of high Mid-Eastern populations where harassing women is normal and common.  I am not being prejudiced, but speaking from actual experiences in Paris, Nice, Tours, Orleans, and Marseille.  I learned quickly that traveling only with girls was not the best choice.  Having even one guy in our group made all the difference.  But I'm from Detroit, and I would much rather walk Paris at night than most of Detroit.

  6. france is safe i dont knwo what your talkin about. Great place to bring a girl to. Its beautiful out there

  7. France is just like anywhere else, there is crime..

  8. France is a safe country.

But don't think you can do everything without any risk.

It's better not to be alone at night in the street or in the metro.

If you come back late, I advice to take a taxi.

It's better not to wear too expensive things (such jewel, ...) especially in touristic places...where there are many people...or at least to pay attention....

Be prudent before following some men who want to offer you a drink  if you are a girl and alone...but I think it's the same everywhere....

But don't be afraid....the police is very present even if you don't see them....

  9. France is very safe!
