  1. He was a waste on Friday against the Might Pies - which is might fine with me!!

Hes a great bloke though and I wish he had just retired gracefully instead of struggling to find form and being dropped (which is what will happen next week).

  2. not realy a wasted draft pick he was a low pick anyway

as for returning yea i recon he should have stayed retired

  3. No having a big forward option is like gold he will alway take the best backman which frees up the other forward. also it was pick 60 something

  4. fraser should've retired when he was on top

  5. I would say, yes, a wasted draft pick... I don't like to though, because Fraser has been very valuable for the club I support.

For Example.. some good players to be picked after #57

    2007 - #59 Craig Bird (Sydney)

    ---

    2006 - #71 Justin Westhoff* (Port Adelaide)

    2006 - #86 David Rodan (Port Adelaide)

    2005 - #61 Matthew Stokes (Geelong)

*would've been perfect in place of Gehrig!!

Fraser Gehrig has battled injuries though. He started the season at less than 100% because of foot (acchilles/ heel) problems and more recently has had arthritis in his hands..

which showed in the match vs Collingwood. Whenever the ball dropped short of Gehrig, he did nothing to bend over or take the ball in his hands!

(In my opinion,) This is the main reason why he's not performing any good. If you can't use your hands in Aussie Rules footy, than you shouldn't be playing. So, at the moment Gehrig shouldn't be playing footy.

In hindsight, it's easy to say anything and looking back on this he did retire at the right time last season. But, at the time (of the draft), the thought of Gehrig coming back, with the off-season to get his body right, was pleasing for the StKilda supporter. It seemed an attack boasting Riewoldt, Gehrig and Koschitzke would be hard to stop, but obviously not so.

(...getting a bit off track here..)

As much as I hate to say it, I think Gehrig needs to retire, so we can promote (and develop) a rookie and "restructure" the Saints' forward line.

The draft pick was wasted, but nonetheless it was a worthy risk. (Think of how it would've benefited the Saints if Gehrig was fully fit and kicking goals!)

He retired at the right time last year, (came back and) he needs to do it again.

  6. no - you have to give it a try - but I agree he hasn't much coal left in the boiler of the G train

  7. He definitely doesnt bring it any more does he..

Step out the way and let some youngens thru!

  8. anybody who quits the afl is doing the right thing

  9. not rly but yu could c no1 wanted him he got taken so l8 in the draft. and if kosi or riewold got injured hes there. but he should b in reserves but riewolds injured so hes playin senoirs

  10. he shouldn't have come back. he reached that time in his career to go, and has played woefully since he's been back. he'll go again at the end of the season, regardless of it being on his part or being told to.

  11. TOTALLY AGREE,and you can't blame him but someone at the saints need their pants pulled down and their Ar$e smacked but im guessing it will be his last year.

  12. yes he is hopeless

the pies showed him how second rate he is

  13. I think he shouldn't have come back.
