  1. its less awkward to run at a fitness center/gym than on the street i think.  but you have to buy a membership :P

and it really depends on whether you have the right personality for it.  for some people its a lot harder to just start running than for others.  im glad im in sports right now cuz i definitely dont have the self discipline to get out and run myself.  but if you do then i say GO FOR IT!

once you start gaining endurance you will feel way better.  your energy level will go up and if you do it in the mornings you feel more awake for the rest of the day. and excercise reduces your appetite.

you just gotta stick with it and have self discipline.

  2. Go for it!

I usually weigh in between 180-190 lbs and I'm an avid runner so I'd say it's as easy as lacing up your running shoes and getting out there. I started running about 1.5 years ago with a weight of 220 and would only caution you to start with lower distance/speed and enjoy the ride.

  3. i guess im the only 1 that know what free running is...it would be pretty hard for you..might twist an ankle and stuff

  4. You have already taken the first step! I suggest trying a "couch to 5K" program, as this was very successful for me. You can go to coolrunning.com and plug in 'couch to 5K' and it gives a great schedule you can print off and follow. The biggest mistake a lot of people make is doing too much too quickly and then getting frustrated. Don't be! You will love the boost in your self confidence it gives you! Good luck!

  5. "just do it" - Nike

  6. My husband played college offensive line.  He was close to 300 pounds and 6'2".  He started to run to loose weight about four years ago and will be running his 10th marathon next month and ran Boston last year.  He is now about 190.  His last race was a half marathon.  He won his age group (35) and came in 15th out of 4,000.  We will both be running the Chicago marathon with team world vision in October.  It will be my first.
