  1. NPR did a story on them this week.  Because of that,  I presume they are legit.  They are however,  a for profit charity that donates all its income,  and I guess tomorrow they could start keeping the money.  The founder did that because it is so much trouble to set up a non-profit.

DJ,  it just started in October,  and NPR did a news story on it last week.  So yes,  it is legit.

  2. Does it matter if its legit.  I imagine the amount of time that people have spent on that website could have been used to help those people in need in much better ways.  Have we seen pictures or things in the actual news media about this website and it legitimately dropping rice to these people? No.  In theory, we could be wasting our time, while we could be donating our time to helping others in a much more direct way.

  3. It seems to be legit. I looked into it after playing it for awhile. It's fun! I made it to level 49 once, but couldn't stay there for more than one word.

  4. Yes, it was  featured on both NPR and BBC.  They explain that each time you click on the page they get paid by the advertisers (like google adsense) which consequently is used towards buying rice. i.e they get paid 1 cent per click and 1 cent buys two cups of rice.  Plus they explained that increased vocabulary helps to mobilize the mind, as compared to clicking from playing bejeweled or something like that.  Therefore, double positive

  5. it dosent seem legit, but it is fun!

  6. Yes on the FAQ sheet of the site it says that it is a legit site. However, if you want to read some more reviews on it, just go on google and type it www.freerice.com reviews. Please continue donating to help world hunger and thanks for the effort so far.

  7. Yes.

  8. I think that it is.  At least it is fun.
