Is freezing a rubber ball with liquid nitrogen a good 5th grade science project?

  1. i don't know if a 5th grader should be handling liquid nitrogen, but otherwise it sounds like a good idea. maybe he should try something more simple like something to do with buoyancy. something inexpensive, and danger-free.


  2. I would only say 'yes' if there is a purpose to this experiment.  What would be you hypothesis?  What is this experiment good for or supposed to prove....

    Make sure you look over his hand-out on science project...you will see a list of things required....if not look up the scientific method so he can get a good grade...

    The hypothesis could be:

    Rubber loses it's bounciness when it's extremely cold.

    (Yes or No?)

    The liquid nitrogen would just be an extreme tool in my eyes. you could just use a freezer though this is way cooler (litterally)
