  1. To the person who posted this question: Yes.

To Andrew: On what exactly are you basing your "knowledge" of Québécois French and the perceptions of Québécois people in France? Québécois French has evolved since France lost its North American colonies in the 18th century- it's just evolved differently from its European counterpart. The influence of English is obviously more prevalent for geographical and historical reasons.

  2. yes french is spoken there

  3. Of course!

    Almost exclusively too!

Besides the odd brave tourist, lol!

P.S. Laughed at in France??? What is this dude smoking?!? Talk about a stereotypical over exaggeration!!!

EDIT: To David - Well said buddy!

  4. Yes, French is spoken in Quebec City as is English and many other languages.  Canada is a multi-national country and many languages are spoken here.  This rule applies to most of Canada with exception of the northern latitudes.

  5. Yes it is, it is the OFFICIAL language of the city, and has far fewer bilingual people than Montréal, so a knowledge of the french language is a MUST

  6. Well, a derivative of french - not Parisian french. It's roughly an unevolved version from the 17th century.  Most quebecers are laughed at in France.

  7. Is the Pope Catholic?

  8. yes, it is the main language in Quebec City, Quebec because it is the official language of that province.

  9. Yes, in the city they do speak it, but most of them are bilingual... not all of them. I lived there for 25 yrs, if you go North of Quebec, people speak more french..and if you go South like towards Montreal is more english.  If you decide to go visit, everyone is friendly... and if you force yourself to speak a little bit of french .. they'll do the same if you need some help.

If you visit the city of Montreal, it is multi-races and multi-languages...

       Have a nice day...

  10. Mostly French is spoken in the city . Have a great day

  11. Quebec City is the capital of the Canadian Province of Quebec. The official language in the entire province is French, so certainly, Quebec City is almost entirely francophone (french speaking).

    Hope this helps.
