Question:

Is fuel a 'feminist' issue ?

Forget diamonds; in the overcrowded, time-pressured, work/life balance nightmare that is the average female's life, the motor car is a girl's best friend. To a woman, a car is no shiny p***s extension; it's a handbag extension. For those of us with children, it's also a nappy-bag extension, a mobile crèche, a soft play centre and, in times of extreme need, a breast-feeding cubicle. A woman's car provides protection from the elements, useful free mobile storage and, crucially, security (show me a woman alone at night on public transport and I'll show you either a WPC or someone who has fallen asleep after a hen night). Above all, it represents personal freedom of the kind that public transport, still grotesquely inadequate despite repeated promises from government, simply cannot provide.

  1. fuel is everyones issue.

  2. Lol, talk about only seeing one side of the coin!

No, it isn't a feminist issue.  Rising fuel costs affect everyone.

  3. Our entire economy is built on oil. Without it all Americans would suffer.

  4. All matters of this world are the dominion of feminists and ONLY feminists as it is their god-given right to make decisions about all matters which concern all others.*

*Apologies to those who may or may not find my opinion in defiance of CG/TOS. Furthermore, may I offer my apology for apologizing as it is my nature to do so under a regime of thought control in the hope that it will induce others to think twice before exercising their power to report my answers (baselessly) and feel a sense of great power and influence over my life.

I furthermore wish to apologize for my existence and my need to consume atmospheric oxygen to sustain critical metabolic processes and for the level of androgens in my serum. Moreover, I apologize for the hormonal milieu (e.g. DHT) which surrounded me during organogenesis, particularly during my first trimester of gestation. Deepest remorses to community members.

Moreover, may I express my deepest remorse for having male genitalia as I'm trying my best to have them removed to conform with the standards required to be a woman.  Deepest apologies, once again.

  5. I think she was more pointing out women *are* concerned that women are the *only* ones who can be concerned. These are just points that get over looked in the fuel issue, I'm sure there are other points, as well.

Ecofeminists probably have a lot to say about fuel, though.

  6. I don't think females are the sole gender who desire oil. Cars are not the only things that run off fuel either. There are more male drivers than there are female, and more male factory owners, but I wouldn't say it is the fault of males alone that there is so much conflict over oil.

  7. I think the outrageous fuel prices are EVERYONE'S issue, all people are being effected by it (except the rich, and yet even some of the rich are complaining about it!)

  8. Fuel is a 'world hooked on internal combustion engines and cheap oil' issue.

edit - Fungus The Funbag is getting slightly boring.

  9. yes solely-so is beer

  10. Ooh, don't agree with your critique.  I am a female car driver.  I use my car to get to my full-time job - there is no bus route to take me there.  I manage a charity for older people and, in order to do my job effectively, I need a car to get out into the community, to visit my clients.  There is also a safety issue because I work in a very rough part of an inner-city

  11. FUEL IS EVERYBODIES ISSUE, the cost there of that is, and those who are getting rich off of our blood, sweat, and tears.
