  1. its dead

  2. fur is a dead thing because it was once living and growing

  3. an organism/animal is a living thing made up of a complex cellular and organ system. as part of the animal, the fur is living until it is removed from the body or until the animal dies

  4. Fur is a part of an organism that no longer carries out metabolic processes.  It never was an independent creature and never will be.  I think the question is poorly worded - it's neither a dead "thing" nor a non-living "thing."

Any teacher that uses the word "thing" has cheated his students.  He needs to be clearer about what he means - organism, object, part of an organism, etc.  Without such clarification, you can't really answer the question.

  5. it should be dead because it was on a living thing and when it gets ripped from that animal or object it dies.

  6. Fur is a dead material. Its actually a protein which is derieved from the same source as your hair and nail. That's the reason you won't feel the pain when you cut your hair or nail.Fur is nonliving and its a part of the body like your organs(hair,skin,nail)..So its a part of the skin and derives its nutrients from the skin.

    Best Wishes :)
