Is generic formula as good as name brand

If so, why is it cheaper?

different brands have different additives... and different affects of babies bellies. Similac was horrid on my babies tummy. parents choice is ok.. but we still have problems.. so you might have to do some trial and error if your baby is gassy or extra fussy with whatever formula you choose. if it works.. dont switch. switching them up too much causes tummy problems too. if the price is a problem.. just try all the cheaper ones first.

try each new one a week at a time. to see if it settles well.

IMO- Yes!  It has all the same nutirents name brand formula has.  They have comparisons on the back of the cans.  I started out using Enfamil Lipil then switched to the Target brand formula.  Compares exactly to the Lipil but is over half the price.

Name brands are always more expensive.  Just like buying frozen corn- the Always Save corn is the same as the Green Giant corn, but it costs less because it's in a yellow bag not one with a big guy wearing leaves on it.  :)

It's the same stuff.

Just like other products.  Smuckers jelly tastes just like Kroger brand, but it cost more.  It's all about the label.

Check the label for ingredients and vitamins and such and how much is in there. If its the same then your good. If your switching formulas though do it slowly because babies still have sensitive stomachs. If your baby spits up alot and has a sensitive stomach you might not be able to switch. My son has reflux and the only thing he can have is enfamil prosobee even with medication. As long as you pay attention you and baby will be fine and youll save sooo much money!

yes it is I even asked my doctor if I could use it like Wal-mart brand Parents choice has a lot of formulas that are the same as enfamil for a lot less and that is what we use.just check the label and make sure it has the same stuff in it and if it does I would use it.

I actually just swiched from similac advance cans about 25.00 a piece to (walmart) parents choice organic. I checked the label and the organic parents choice is made by the same manufactuer of Earths Best organic formula and Vermont organics...well known "name brand" companies............funny thing is, the parents choice cost 15.00 a can and the other 2 made by the same manufacturer cost 30.00+ a can.........hhhmmm

Name brand anything is more expensive.  It's marketing.

Yes, they are basically the same.  Of course there will be tiny variations in the amounts of vitamins & minerals, but overall the nutrition is the same.  (I read this on Similac's web site before, because I thought name brand would be better, too.)

I feed my daughter Kroger brand formula for babies 4-12 months and she likes it way better than Similac Advance.

Yes they are the same overall.  You can compare labels to make sure but almost every brand of formula has an off brand.  However my daughter uses Nutramigen and there is not an off brand to that.

Yes, read the labels they have the same exact ingredients and amounts and sometimes are made by the same company in the same lab.  It's cheaper because the makers want to get their money both ways from the idiots who would only buy name brand and from the cheapies who will never buy name brand

Yes, it is. When you buy the name brand- you are paying for the name. We use generic for almost everything- you wouldn't believe how much we save on groceries!

you can compare the ingredients and the nutrients. I tried to switch my daughter to the target brand and she refused and then I switched to the publix brand (grocery store brand) and she loved it even more than the similac.
