Is geography a science?

Some say it is a science, some say it is a social science. I think it also depends on what aspect of geography one is talking about. Studying the 'earth' would be a science whereas studying people patterns would be the social science.

Some universities call their geography dep't - 'Department of Geosciences'

Geochemistry,

Geology ,

Geophysics ,

Meteorology,

Paleontology etc

all come under the heading of Earth Sciences but each is a study under Geography.

Think of 'science' projects.  Topics such as: what soil is best for growing ...,  and earthquakes and volcanoes - are these not geography?
