  1. Very expensive. Buying house so round 2000 square feet with a little tiny garden and small garage cost here near Frankfurt over 350.000 Euro. Rent this type a house is monthly over 1100 Euro, without utilities.

In Bremen is the prices same is a nice city near to the water and also the question is what type a house you want how big all that and prices changes.

  2. You've received contradictory answers. Well, it is true that prices went up (in some cases doubled) after the introduction of the euro, but I still believe that if you visit as a tourist (from Europe), the prices are normal, except cigarettes and trains. Eating out, drinking (alcohol and coffee) and museums are very affordable. Shopping varies: clothes cost more or less the same as in the rest of western Europe, home equipment can often be even 20-30% cheaper than elsewhere, electronics vary.

  3. Going there is a little if you go in summer time.Eating out is not or shopping isn't,depends where you go.I was there with my son 2 months ago visiting my grandmother and its almost the same price here in the U.S.

  4. only when you need a public restroom

  5. Everything is expensive here since we got the Euro.We just earn half of our money as we did before with the DM but the prices are doubel now.

  6. No. At least compared to other western european countries. It's also not cheap though, especially for people from the U.S., because of the low Dollar/Euro ratio. The east european countries are also cheaper.

You also notice a strong north-south and east-west divide. In general, east and north are cheaper than west and south.

  7. I'm living in Germany now and it is expensive.  I can't tell you how much it would be to own a house, but I can tell you a few things about purchasing things.  The euro is currently sitting right around $1.30-$1.35.  German sales tax is included (called Value Added Tax) and is at 19%.  A meal at a sit down restaraunt will cost you 7-10 euro, a box of betty crocker cake mix from walmart runs 5 euro.  From what I have been told, health care is free here, but it is reflected in income tax (almost 40% of each paycheck is taken out).  Gas here is 1,05 euro per liter on average (about $5.50/gallon).

Don't get me wrong, Germany is beautiful, but it is not as inexpensive as it used to be.  I saw some conflicting answers above, I would recommend looking around online and taking a visit to where you were thinking about buying a house.

  8. Here's a couple of websites.

    http://www.lbs-immobilien-bremen.de/

    http://www.euroing.de/

  9. since the value of the Dollar fell sharply, everything in Germany seems to be more expensive. They also raised the value added tax and that doesn't help.

  10. I didn't know it was for sale.
