Just how much is involved in this process? Where can I go to find out some good, detailed info without buying some course?

  1. Do you mean dealer plates or a dealer SHIP (the business)?

Dealer plates is just a matter of filing for one at the DMV (with your business ID).

The dealership - you would need millions of dollars for the franchise.  And no - they do NOT give it to just anybody with money.  You have to show you have experience running a dealership.

    Good Luck...

  2. Not to be a smart a zz,  but it is "license".

You don't need a course. I know for many states you can just go to the DMV web site and get info.

Maybe for a full information and application package you have to pay some small fee.

It can vary by state, but in general it is not a simple task. Most states require a physical location, application approval, some type of bonding, fees, etc.

  3. It's not simple, my friend. I recall many many trips to the DMV, and in CA, the DMVs have people standing because there aren't enough seats and the lines move a few inches every 10 minutes.

In CA, you need 2 offices/locations, Bond, Insurance. I took a course and a long exam.

Overall, the process took 5-6 months (Yes! half a year!) But that's just.

I'm sure the process varies in other states, but don't be discouraged because it's absolutely worth it. If you have more questions about the process, you can find me at autobragblog.com  There are 3 dealers on the site who would love to help you obtain you license.
