Is getting a car hopeless?

Ive had the same car since highschool.. and when i was gone in the army lets just say my mom didnt take care of it. Anyway it's giving out and its time for a new one. Im still trying to recover after identity theft and my credit will suck til this is all over. Anyway. one person told me to lease. another said its hopeless. I dont know what to do... =(

  1. if i were in your shoes, i would go to a credit union and explain your situation.  they can work with you on a personal level and have different lending guidelines than normal banks.

    also, i wouldn't lease.  i would get a used car - like a honda or toyota or nissan.


  2. Since leasing is a form of financing, like a loan, your credit problems are going to make it difficult to impossible for you to lease.

    Your best bet is to save up some money to either fix your old car, or buy a decent used car that you can drive until your credit improves.

On the scale from possible to hopeless your way on the hopeless side.  Lots of places SAY they can help with bad credit but most to all of them are a scam and your going to have to pay twice the price after they change the deal months even years after the deal is done.  Plus the cars they have are plain bad unreliable good looking shiny cars. Its the old you have the money or not and looks like you don't have the money.

  4. Got cash? Probably a dumb question with what you're going through, but I'd just buy a car with cash until the credit recovers.
