  1. It is if he was saving Americans or innocent civilians, but not if he was flying off course and no obeying orders. Only those who were there know what really happened, but i'd have to believe that it was his incompetence that got his plane jeopardized!

  2. Hero:

    1. a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

    2. a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal: He was a local hero when he saved the drowning child.

Yep he's a hero in my book. I wonder if he threw his purple hearts over the white house fence.

Cracks me up Kerry got three scratches and scurried home a lefty hero. McCain got his arm and legs broken and tortured for five years and lefties look down their nose. Lack of perspective comes to mind.

  3. Way braver than running to Canada and whining.

And lets see you spend some quality time in the Hanoi Hilton. Then I'll give credence to your bitching.

  4. Recycling your old questions I see.

Tell me... did you do anything heroic during you whole 4 years of service?

  5. Getting shot down has nothing to do with heroism - that's just a fact of life for military pilots.  Of course, simply the fact that he was willing to be where he could GET shot down says he's a man of courage.

Surrendering when you are seriously injured, semi-conscious, and armed (if at all) with only a .38 caliber, 6 shot revolver and are surrounded by dozens of men with pitchforks and machetes is not heroic, it's just smart.  To do otherwise would be stupid.

Refusing to go home ahead of your comrades when the enemy has offered it to you?

    Yeah, that's heroic.

  6. No, but staying in a camp and being tortured longer so that your fellow comrades can go free does.

  7. I believe there was  a book published and two of McCain's captors claimed that he (McCain) had never been tortured. He had a chance to be released, but did not accept, but did make 5 tapes for his captors.  I could be wrong. I'm sure some one on here knows more about that than I.

  8. what's more heroic is the fact that instead of going home cause his dad was a big shot, he firmly said NO and stayed for 5yrs in prison while getting beat up there.

I would love to see if Obama would have done the same thing.

  9. Works for me, better than smoking crack.

  10. My answer to what is heroic is 'being scared / terrified' and 'doing it anyway'.

    It's as simple as that.

    Sash.

  11. Nope! Now if he actually fought, then I would have greater respect for the man. Oh and by the way, those draft-dodgers and protesters were probably the only patriotic people in this nation at that time. Peace!

  12. you forgot to mention the broken arm or arms when he "surrendered", but thats what you liberals do, forget the facts.

  13. As I have said in all of our emails, you clearly do not know the definition of a Hero.  EVERY Soldier who has fought for his or her country is a Hero.  REAL Americans understand that.  That leads me to believe you are not a real American.

It's funny how you kept insisting you are an American yet you mention nothing of it in your "about me" description or your so called USAF service.  THAT really does say volumes about your claim...

  14. What unit did Obama serve in?

  15. Not even worth the time to answer. Thanks for the 2 points.

  16. As far as military adventures go, I guess it's heroic.  I certainly don't think it deserves the negative connotation you give it.  Still, hero is such a stupid, ill-defined buzz word.  I sincerely believe the best people in our country are not the fighters.

  17. As a matter of fact, yeah.  Much braver than dodging the draft or holding protest signs.

  18. when was this during the civil war.........the guys to old and a few years away from dying ...sorry his just to old to lead a nation....
