Is getting the wireless connection easy on and itouch ipod?

so i am thinking of getting the ipod touch but my friend dosent have a wireless router so she cant go on the internet but i do so would it be easy to set up and would i be able to go it like long car rides and alwyas be on the internet ? helppp

The itouch requires you to have a wireless internet access point in range.  I have 2 of them, and they are very nice at home, but there is no internet access with them on the road.  

Also note that the battery life on the itouch is very poor when using the wireless connection.
