  1. Lets put it this way, if you don't have them removed the pain will be far worse than the procedure. And you will end up needing more dental work.

Its not as bad as its made out to be. If you keep telling yourself its going to be horrible then it will be.

Yes its uncomfortable but only for a few days. For your health, you need to get this done. There are much wore procedures than having your wisdom teeth extracted.

  2. Heh. Just got all 4 taken out on Friday. They put me to sleep, so I can't tell you much, but your sockets will hurt for a while afterwards and you might not be able to eat certain things. It's really not too bad.

  3. no...they put me out .I woke up with a mouth full of gauze. They give you really good pain medication, so it's not bad at all. You are basically getting deep teeth taken out. Sometimes they are impacted. The tooth/teeth have to be broken apart to get them out, so it makes the surgery longer. Don't cancel your appt. Get it done and you'll be wondering why you didn't do it sooner.

  4. I only had one and got it taken out, it was infected and causing me pain! I didnt get put under and only had a minor shot to numb me. It didnt hurt at all, it was just pressure. i actually felt intense relief afterwards bcos the infection hurt so bad. It did hurt a few days later but was very bearable!

Just do it it and get it over with, you will need to eventually. If they get infected that will hurt!! not only your teeth but could infect ur sinuses! (as in my case). the fear is worse then anything n even if it hurts afterwards, its not for too long. be brave!

  5. Listen to someone who has just been through it like 5 days ago... I got all mine pulled out... They say it only lasts 3-4 days... COMPLETE BULL!!! You need to be home for at LEAST 1 week... I had to call my work and tell them I needed extra time off... You won't even feel the top teeth... You will most likely just feel the bottom like me. For me, its been 5 days and I am still swollen up (not that bad but right side worse than left) and the pain... As long as you take Ibuprophen (Motrin), you will be OK! Just really sore... Remember to put ice on your jaw, not on the actual cheek in the middle, but the Jaw part because that is what causes the soreness... Oh, DO NOT PUT A HEATING PAD! It does nothing... Your face is already a heating pad with blood running through it, you need ice, not heat! GL! And relax... The worst part is the recovery... I AM HATING THIS SO MUCH!!! AHHHH! But I am glad I got it over with!!! Oh, your Oral Surgeon will prob. tell you to take penicillin with motrin... An advice, kill the penicillin as soon as you can because your stomach will start throwing fireworks like mine did and it wasn't a pretty site in the bathroom!!! GL!

You may already know, or not know, but Youtube has videos of it and from what I've seen, its all Bull and it looks much worse than it is... Hey, you do it now when u want to or you do it later when you are forced to because of so much pain... Thats how I looked at it... At least I planned and so can you!!!

  6. I heard all those horrible stories too. Made me scared to death. I can't really explain the process because I was asleep. Some people don't need to get put under, but if you have bony impactions, do not let them keep you awake! Just follow the rules they give you and make sure they give you vicodin! ha. Pure Bliss. Don't be worried, better to just get it over with. However, if you're appointment is at Western Dental, DO RESCHEDULE, go somewhere else. :>

  7. I just had all 3 of mine out at the same time, I only had three, they could not locate the forth. Mine were not bothering me one bit, never have, the only reason I got them out is because I now have braces. I too, like you, heard all the horror stories before going in and was scared to death. The day finally came, I was a nervous wreck. After all was said and done, its not THAT bad (well it wasnt for me). Its nothing pleasant that I would do again, but its nothing horrible. You will be in pain for that day of the procedure and maybe the next day, but its not something you wont be able to deal with. Take your pain meds and anitbiotics to help with infections and you will be fine. I had the laughing gas and and the normal dental numbing meds and didnt feel a thing during the procedure. I only had 2 days off of work, I was fine and able to return on the third day.

    good luck-
