  2. Yes. It's caused by oversecretion of growth hormone by the pituitary gland.

  3. What do you mean by gigantism?  Large species or oversized individuals?

    There are several conditions in humans which can lead them to become very large:  

    For example - Marfan's Syndrome which probably affected Abe Lincoln - leads people to be very tall with large hands and feet.

    Perhaps the best known cause in humans is acromegaly or Giantism.  This is what affected Andre the Giant  (Fezzik in the Princess Bride)
