  1. no. glass is made of sand. sand is not liquid.

  2. Before it dries it is

  3. it is when you heat sand to 270 degrees you make glass. because sand is what glass is made from. look at these web sites for more information

  4. glass is classified under ceramic.

    no it is not liquid.

  5. If you heat glass up until it melts then it is liquid.  As a solid state in windows and such it is NOT a liquid.

The myth that glass is a liquid came from the observation that old stain glass windows in European cathedrals tended to be thicker on the bottom than on the top after 500 years.  After studies it was determined that the workers who made the windows put the thicker edges on the bottom.  They had been thicker on one end when they were made.

Glass forms an amorphous solid of SiO2 molecules in a random network.  Very solid and does not change shape even after hundreds of years.

By the way, since glass is an amorphous solid, it melts over a range of temperatures instead of at a fixed single melting point.

When I was in college finishing up my degree in chemistry I took a class in glassblowing.  Fascinating course to work with semi-liquified and very hot glass.  I had to make several laboratory glass tools for my grade.

  6. yes its is

  7. yes

  8. no

  9. stupid. it's abviously a solid.

  10. nope, it's solid.

    lookie at mine?

  11. yyyeeeaaahhh boy

  12. It depends on the temperature.

We know that glass is made out of sand, so we say it is solid. But at higher temperature it melts, so it is liquid, and at more higher temperature, it boils so it evaporates turning into gas.

  13. Glass is silica, an amorphous solid that melts at high temperatures.

  14. Why don't you ask if a brick is liquid..Virtually any substance forms gas or liquid given the appropriate temperatures.

  15. No. Some people claim it is viscous as windows in old buildings are thicker at the bottom. In fact, some are thicker at the top. They just weren't very good glass makers back then =)

  16. No.

    Glass is made from sand.

  17. liquid

  18. its gaseous

at room tempeature its solid (unless your room temperature is like a gazzilion celcius)

  19. in what form? as a glass to drink from=then no its a solid

but if its mellted glass(also a mixture of sand)then its liquid

  20. glass is sand

  21. Yes it is when it's made but turns to a solid

  22. No. A liquid contains air, a glass does not.

A glass can hold a liquid, while glass will sit

at the bottom of a liquid, because glass is more dence.

A person can wear eye glasses, on their face,

but, the lens of the eye, is made of liquid.

A person, can even wear a glass eye, with

which, they can only see, with the other one. <}:-})

  23. at first it is, but it dries and hardens

  24. Its a amorphous solid.

Many people get it confused as crystalline solid but its amorphous because the molecules are not arranged in specific order.

  25. Glass is never a liquid!

Its a Solid at room temperature, but Molten when heated to excess,

People may claim molten is a liquid, but they are two completely different states,

  26. yes and no since substances such as toothpaste, peanut butter, shaving cream, plastic and glass are technically referred to as “soft condensed materials'.  These have characteristics of both solid and liquid states at any temperature.

    -Haha

Regarding the attemps to back up the claims that glass is solid because "it is made of sand and sand is solid"

    icecubes are made from water

    icecubes are solid

Therefore water is solid  ....logic at work

  27. when heated to a certain temperature.

  28. Yes it is

  29. It depends on what temperature it is at.

  30. At room temperature, no!  Above it's melting point, yes!  At room temperature glass is an amorphous solid--Meaning it's not quite crystalline.
