global warming is like earth being a heavy smoker it'll be alright for the first few years because the smokers young and their lungs are efficient at clearing the tar but after a decade or two it's taking its toll and taxing the smokers health. Simple tasks are becomming difficult as the smoker is easily out of breath. Luckily for the planet global warming is just a passing phase in its existance, unluckily for its concoius, free thinking inhabitants we're all going to be affected by it like the heavy smoker hacking and coughing in our faces and spitting phlem at our feet.

Without trying to play down the effect of man-made polution on the global warming factor ( it's not all man-made, some of it is happening naturally ) I just wanted to bring out that here are some advantages to the global warming, and not all countries are worried about it---Siberia, for example would become a garden---all that wasteland that now is inhabitable and under the ice for a big part of the year, would be available for living, plantations and forests. And Canada and Northern Europe would benefit also.

Yes the seas would rise a bit, and several big cities around the world would have to move inland, or disappear, and Holland would be in a fix, but the native Dutch are leaving anyway, leaving it for the immigrants who are less attached to the traditional Dutch ways , so I'm sure they wouldn't be too sad to let go of the dikes, and let it all flood.

Some islands would disappear, so the population would have to move, and I'm sure they'd move the animals.

The biggest problem is not the global warming, but the desertification of arable and forest  soil due to human mis-management of the soil. There are huge continental areas that have now poor soil, but they were not so before .

Remember from your History lessons how civilization began in the "Fertile Crescent" where in now Iraq, and that it extended all the way through North Africa? Well, those areas are now mostly desert, but used to be a lush garden!

In  the 12th century, there was a king, who ordered the planting of a long strip of trees, mostly pine trees, along the atlantic coast of Portugal, to protect the arable land from the sand that was being blown inland by the wind. That wooded area, called "Pinhal de Leiria" is still there and has been kept and replanted, and it has protected the soil inland as well as provided wood for humans and shelter for wild animals all these nearly 800 years!

What we need now is polution control and a few more long-term projects that will protect and even improve the land we do have for future generations.

Climate change is happening alright, but it's not due to human activity and there's nothing we can do about it.

Meanwhile, it provides a good excuse for raising taxes.

It's not a joke...  And we are all doomed to die someday.

Some estimate that the oceans will rise two feet in 50 years and twenty feet in 100 years. Storms will increase in violence, climates will change, crops will fail, and many people on earth will starve to death.

I'm not a friend of Terrance so I won't call him Sir. I don't think he's a real night anyway. The current trend of global warming is due to the release of greenhouse gases that are created as a result of human activity over the past 100 years.

GW is a natural function of the planet.  How do you think people knew there was a Northwest Passage 1000 years ago??? Vikings USED it to found colonies in Newfoundland!

And there were no SUV's or oil fired power plants back then!

Global Warming is a fact. It's caused by solar radiation is a fact. That man causes or has any significant measurable impact is a hoax. We can do things about it though, we can and probably will develop engineering to alleviate the problems because it will take time. It wont be too much of a problem happening too fast to work with.  We are all going to die sooner or later of something but you are not going to die of Global Warming, probably cancer, heart disease, or auto accident, hopefully when you are old and gray!

Its a slow situation that will affect us all. Just because we are not seeing drastic changes now, doesn't mean its not happening.

Global warming is a fact. If its caused or exacerbated by man is debatable. But why? All the solutions for mans impact on global warming, are things we should have been doing anyway.
