  1. It's a scientific theory, meaning it's based on solid scientific evidence.  It's also the best theory put forward, which is why it's supported by a scientific consensus.

In short, it's a theory just like evolution is a theory.  Neither can be proven, but anyone who has studied either subject should arrive at the conclusion that the theories are correct.

  2. methane and water vapor

  3. personally I believe global warming is caused by the Sun and the position of our solar system as seen by the temperatures of all the planets heating up. But I also think our planet is in the start of a new ice age even though it seems contradictory, from my reading the last ice age started out just like the way things are happening now. I'm sure after they tax us to death for excess carbon that the problem will be solved and THEY will make a lot of money.

  4. Some believe it is actually the SUN causing the warming.  I'm not sure.

But I am sure of what is NOT the cause .... MAN!

Global warming benefits the elite corporate interests behind the new world order.

It is a CONVENIENT truth for them.  Some benefits reaped so far:

    -  rally the people of the world behind a common cause, thereby making it easier for the globalists to induce support for global government,

    -  elite corporate interests are making a huge pile of $$$$$ as a result of the global warming myth,

    -  advance one of the long-held objectives of the globalists - world depopulation -- by the contrived food short resulting from use of agricultural land to grow biofuels instead of food.

And we, the taxpayers of the world, fun this fiasco with our tax dollars and our purchasing the necessities of life - food and energy.

We were duped.  Hopefully people wake up to see global warming for what it is before hundreds of millions of people die of starvation.

Likely I will get a bunch of thumbs down here because there are not enough people informed about the degree to which the corporate interests have hijacked the government, media and ACADEMIA.

This link provides a good example of how the global elite are able to buy their own "science":

Yahoo News "Harvard gets record $100 million gift from Rockefeller"

  5. In scientific circles it's a theory, which simply means a group of scientists believe it's true but cannot conclusively prove it.  In political and environmental circles it's a religious crusade that is being pushed in an irresponsible manner as FACT.  The doom-and-gloom criers are using global warming in an attempt to gain more money and power.  They want the government to throw billions of dollars at measures to prevent something that they can't prove is happening -- nor do they have any idea whether the preventive measures they advocate will do any good.

  6. There is good evidence that warming drives up  CO2 and not the other way around. Common-sense should be enough to at least cast some doubt. With AGW, science has clearly become corrupted and sadly it will suffer when this hoax is exposed. So will the efforts of environmentalists.

  7. I'm beginning to think it's a religion.

Clearly with dropping temperatures and increased co2 levels, there is no relation between the two.

  8. It was a hypothesis.  Then it was confirmed and became a scientific theory, a fact.

Please explain to me one simple thing:

How can it possibly be of no consequence to release millions of years of stored carbon in the space of hundreds of years?

  9. It's a scientific theory (as opposed to the popular use of the word "theory" which can mean hunch). Here's a good definition of scientific theory:

    [DEFINITION]

a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena; "theories can incorporate facts and laws and tested hypotheses"; "true in fact and theory"

    [END DEFINITION]

The conspiracy aspect of this subject comes from those who seem to think all the climate scientists of the world are somehow working together to make Al Gore rich ;-)

  10. Unfortunately, it seems to have the status of religion right now
