  1. No. Global warming is caused by the CO2 emissions that factories and cars and other gas spewing things let out. The sun has nothing to do with it. That theory, (the sun theory) is unproven, unprobable, and was probably created by people of power who do not want to be involved in paying money to help stop global warming. It is so easy to buy scientists off, or to just create a story of how scientists found this new theory. Global warming is different. Almost all scientists agree, and it just makes sense. For the sun theory, what on earth is causing the sun to do that? We would notice more fluctuating temps. than what we have been experiencing. It is true that Earth goes through cycles, but according to these cycles, we should have started a cooling one about 30-40 years ago, but instead we just continued to climb up. Global warming is caused by humans, don't lay off the blame on the sun.

  2. Yes - Russian scientist have taken the lead on the Sun's contributions to arming, and they have come to the conclusion that the Sun is a major influence for all heat here on Earth.

Habibullo Abdusamatov, head of the space research laboratory at the St. Petersburg-based Pulkovo Observatory, said global warming stems from an increase in the sun's activity. His view contradicts the international scientific consensus that climate change is attributable to the emission of greenhouse gases generated by industrial activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation.

"Global warming results not from the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, but from an unusually high level of solar radiation and a lengthy - almost throughout the last century - growth in its intensity,"

Abdusamatov claimed that the upper layers of the world's oceans are - much to climatologists' surprise - becoming cooler, which is a clear indication that the Earth has hit its temperature ceiling already, and that solar radiation levels are falling and will eventually lead to a worldwide cold spell.

"Instead of professed global warming, the Earth will be facing a slow decrease in temperatures in 2012-2015. The gradually falling amounts of solar energy, expected to reach their bottom level by 2040, will inevitably lead to a deep freeze around 2055-2060," he said, adding that this period of global freeze will last some 50 years, after which the temperatures will go up again.

  3. Let me start off by saying we (my family and I) live 100% off of the grid and are completely self-sufficient with a 0% Carbon footprint. I believe this is the first step anyone can make “help the environment”. Once you convert your own life style to a greener more eco friendly route, you can start helping others.

We definitely didn't start global warming, but we definitely do contribute to it now.

Natural gas (or Methane along with other thanes) for example, is completely a natural contributer to global warming and is derived pretty much the same way as oil. ie. Matter (animal, plant etc) decomposes over time resulting in a anaerobic (hope I spelled that right) decay of non-fossil organic material / gas (natural gas or methane).

One problem with global warming is that the concept is so vague in the minds of the people. The critical interpretation is basically how it’s explained in school and the news. However most of the public see global warming connected with the ozone and pollutants which cause harmful greenhouse gasses, etc. therefore investigating and fighting for things like alternative energy (ie. Solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, etc)

Greenhouse gases are real and do contribute to global warming. Think of the different gas layers like ozone (o3) that circumference the globe as the clear plastic on a greenhouse. Longer rays of light from the Sun go in and reflect off different thermal masses bouncing back and creating shorter lengths of energy that cannot exist the plastic barrier. These beams then just continue to bounce around inside the green house until they’re finally absorbed completely (some do escape but very few), thereby warming the greenhouse greatly even in cold temperatures.

Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.

    1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.

    2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet.

It’s pretty easy to see the results..

    Melting ice sheets & glaciers

    Floods & droughts

    Great hurricanes & cyclones

    Seasonal extremes

    Seasonal phenomena’s

    Species extinction

    New & resurgent diseases

There are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest.

I currently own 2 converted h2 vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)

  4. Yes, as we are warming and cooling, there are so many factors effecting warming and cooling.  CO2 is not one of them!

  5. Beyond agua-luna spamming this question, as s/he has many other questions, here is a little information explaining the sun's role in this:

    http://www.trevoole.co.uk/Questioning_Cl...

-This first one is a plot of the Earth's geomagnetism in relation to rising temperatures. In case you don't know, geomagnetism is affected by the sun.

    http://www.fao.org/DOCREP/005/Y2787E/y27...

-Here is information about the sun's role.

  6. It can be, but not this time around. The correlation between solar output and global temperatures ended during the 1970's. Our current global warming is related to increasing concentrations of atmospheric greenhouse gases (or so claims nearly every single scientist currently engaged in climate research).

  7. YES - halefrigginlujah

  8. neither its us thats causing it

  9. That appears to be what drives the climate. There have been numerous studies showing that the sun (who would have guessed) drives our climate (Wow, never thought I would have to say that  and think some people may disagree).

  10. I heard that they do, and also cause some weird weather and atmospheric changes (temporary), too. Good luck.

  11. No, global warming is caused by selfish and ignorant people that want to deny that its happening cause they dont wanna give up their wastefull habbits!!! They will do anything to deny the truth so they can keep using the things that they are most addicted to like an 800 pound woman eats 2 full buckets of chicken and blames her weight problem on genetics!!!! The only difference between the 2 is that atleast the woman is only killing herself with her own denial but, others contributes to killing us all!!! The best way to prove my point, is for all that do not believe in global warming to start a car up inside a green house full of plants and see how long it takes with the car running for them and the plants to die!!! If they and the plants are still living a week later with no supply of oxygen, I guess global warming would be a hoax wouldn't it???

  12. Other than an unknown Russian scientists that Jello idolizes (for some unknown reason) and a handful of non-scientists (mostly TV weathermen types and economists), virtually no one holds to that theory as a feasible explanation for the current warming.

We have extremely accurate measurements of solar activity, and while they are a probably explanation for some past climate variations, they aren't an explanation for what we saw the latter part of the 20th century.

  13. Science does not have a complete handle on this, just look at their failed predictions on Solar Cycle 24 (late by more than 1 year).

    Important quote from:

    http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2006/...

"May 10, 2006: The Sun's Great Conveyor Belt has slowed to a record-low crawl, according to research by NASA solar physicist David Hathaway. "It's off the bottom of the charts," he says. "This has important repercussions for future solar activity.""

You can also go to this web page and determine Sun Spot numbers for yourself:

    http://spaceweather.com/glossary/sunspot...

This page talks about IMFs (Interplanetary Magnetic Fields) which are related to Sun Spots.

    http://spaceweather.com/glossary/imf.htm...

They don't seem to accommodate the power of directional coronal mass ejections - which can be considerable if directed straight towards earth..

Far more than just GW can be a result of emissions from the Sun - even plate tectonics.

To answer your question Yes - but also other emissions than just sun spots.

  14. Yes.
