Is global warming happening or not?

im so pissed with this already,theres the gottard institute that says its happening,then i heard someone say harvard and yale say theres proof that the earth is cooling,then others that say the earth does this naturally every other century and were not responsible.

will someone for the love of god tell me whats true!?

Statistically it's a fact that the Earth is getting warmer, but "Global Warming" is disputed. Although studies show the Earth getting warmer, it's also true that the Earth was cooling in the 1970's and the concern was "Global Cooling"

depending on who your listening to, global warming could be man made, or just a natural process.  whatever it is, yes the earth is getting somewhat warmer, but looking back millions of years ago, it has done the same thing time and time again.  listening to al gore, someone would think the sky is falling, but listening to a scientist, you might think "oh, theres nothing to worry about"  i personally think that this is a natural process.  hope this clears it up a bit for you!

The bottom line is that its a lie, all of it. A scam for money. We people have been on earth for so little time and we can't make a huge impact. We don't have the power to change the earth's climate but in the future who knows but don't worry global warming won't have effect on you, your kids, their kids, and thei and so on.

i think it is happening there is so many natural disaters and it's because of global warming and the ice in the artic ocean is melting too.

global warming is not happening...about 5-10 years ago the temperatures were warmer than they are today...it is all about climate control..yes people are contributing to the whole in the o-zone layer with their cars and by not recycling but global warming,....not happening

Try to observe the following persisting symptoms that this predicament really exist.

**the temperature is gradually increasing. Try to go outside and the heat is not similar than before. Perhaps 8 o'clock in the morning before is not that hot compared today.

** try to ask the hospitals or doctors, and for sure they notice that skin cancer patients also increase in number. Skin  diseases also were getting worst right now.

**Try to see or just check bout the water  level of the sea (well, off course you won't know it by yourself, but try to visit some sites bout it), it gets higher.The ice and glaciers in the Globe's pole is starting to melt because of too much heat.

**Try to see the farmers and planters, they find hard time during planting seasons, its hard for them to grow crops anymore because it easily die because of too much heat that plants could not endure anymore.

**try to observe the unusual climate change, or the abrupt changes of daily weather.

-----These were just the things I knew that makes me believe that global warming do really exist. Perhaps experts can give you more evidences about its existence, for there were so many. But I hope that this little knowledge convinced you somehow that GLOBAL WARMING is one of the greatest problem we have today, and will somehow motivate you to do something for its resolution....

Not happening, hype to make Al Gore rich.

Al Gore claimed that the deadly Myanmar cyclone, which struck on May 3, could be a result of alleged man-made global warming. "the trend toward stronger and more destructive storms appears to be linked to global warming," stated Gore.

But scientists disagree, saying there is no way to link any single weather event to CO2 and global warming.

Using tragedy to advance an agenda has been a strategy for many global-warming activists. It was just a matter of time until someone found a way to link Cyclone Nargis and global warming.

There is indeed a stupid tendency for people to now blame everything that happens in weather on global warming and the blame game has reached a level of hysteria

There is an intense amount of conflicting viewpoints and evidence on global warming. I personally believe that global warming is a natural process which has occurred many times in Earth's history and is definitely occurring now as predicted, but has been helped along slightly by human influences (greenhouse gases etc etc.).

There might be global warming, it is probably a natural occurance.

The earth has warmed and cool many, many times over its existence.  

The whole thing with global warming today is a scam.  Ever heard of Al Gore telling companies to PAY credits for their global footprint?  Its a scam to make money.  Al Gore is getting sued by the man who created http://weather.com.  

How is paying Al Gore gonna help change the temperature??  

Well, it won't but he'll get rich and die before anyone can prove anything for sure.

Instead of listening to the opinions of others why not go out and observe some facts.

Go to the oak ridges moraine just north of Toronto. Look carefully for glacial ice (not to be confused with the ordinary winter leavings). See any ice? If not the glacier has melted away. That very likely means the average temperature has gone up since the ice made the moraine.

Every other century isn't anywhere near a long enough period to observe a definitive catastrophic warming or cooling trend.

Do what I do...

Live you life, take care of Earth in your own little way (recycle, etc...) and forget about trying to do anything about Global Warming because it is sooo far beyond human control.

It is the ultimate human conceit to think we can control a Global & Universal phenomenon.

It has been shown that many other planets are warming ever so slightly...Are there SUV's and coal fired power plants on those planets also?

it is hard to say if it is really happening but if you look at how many natural disasters we have encountered in the last 5 years it would definitely not surprise me. I think teh people who say it is not happening and are against recyclyng are just lazy , but at the same time I do believe that some people take teh recycling thing to extremes. I think we need to find a balance between recycling and not caring because both parties are turning each other off at this point.
