  1. No one can answer this question with certainty. It is probably a combination of the two though in what percentages is a matter of controversy. The current consensus among climatologist is that to a significant degree it is anthropogenic.

  2. MAN MADE

  3. burning of fossil fuel is a large part of global warming...

and, the last time i checked,

burning of fossil fuel was not naturally occuring....

  4. Try this simple analogy..

Suppose we are in a canoe in a large lake.  The waves are steady and not too big. Now if we stand up,and start rocking the canoe, how long before the sides slip below the water?

Yes, there are "natural" forces that provide a certain amount and variations in global warming on our tiny planet. But 'we' have been putting larger and larger amounts of fossilized CO2 into our atmosphere, for over 200 years!

That has 'tipped' the balance, and treatens to tip too far!  Wanna risk it?

  5. Normally it's natural.  The current warming is different - scientists have determined it's mostly man-made.  See the link below for an explanation.

  6. Some of it is man-made and some of it is naturally occuring.

The natural variation of Earth's climate is much bigger than the recent changes have been.   And scientists don't yet know how these natural variations work and what causes them.

The Earth's climate for example warmed up by several degrees 12,000 years ago.  And people weren't the one's who caused this warming.  What exactly caused it nobody knows.

  7. We have gone past the point of no return unless we can build improvements to assist in reflecting light away from the earth.

First you have to understand how long the earth has been storing up the fossil fuels. The coal, oil and natural gas that we are using now are products of the earth converting plants and animals into their present forms over (often) millions of years. They have been stored now for millions of years without being used until now. By being used now, we are converting these fuels from stored carbon, into released carbon. Thus allowing this released carbon to act as a greenhouse effect gas again.

Since we are talking about a situation where the Earth once had a lot of stored carbon and now that stored carbon is disappearing at a tremendous rate (and will continue into the future) We can be truthful in saying that there is a definite trend, and relationship in the increase of greenhouse gasses. We can also say that these greenhouse gasses would not have been released without the intervention of man. Logically therefore we can say that global warming gasses have been released and any global warming increases are directly attributed to mankind’s releasing them.

The damage done by increased greenhouse emissions has already taken its toll. This is evident by the melting of polar ice and glaciers across the globe. Some will say that there is no such thing as global warming, because there is in their opinion very little change in the average global temperature. However when you take into account the fact that there is less ice, and snow, because of the melting of polar ice and glaciers across the globe. That melted ice, snow and glaciers across the globe will in themselves temporarily lower the overall ocean temperatures untill they all melt. Thereby lowering the average temperatures on the earth. So if you account for that, the temperature can be proven to be increasing.

We cannot get the world back the way it was, even as of fifty years ago, much less stop the damage that will still occur in the future. Sure we could try to stop all industry that will cause pollution, but at what cost. Without industry we could not sustain the present world population. Giving up industry and sacrificing billions of people on this planet in the process, is not a viable solution (even trying to merely lower greenhouse emissions is at best a temporary solution).

The biggest problem we have now is not just the fact that we have more greenhouse gasses trapping heat in, but we are getting less and less sunlight being reflected out from the planet. As the snow cover melts from more and more of the planets surface, the sunlight heats up more parts of the earth that once reflected light back out. It is like a dog chasing its tail (until it gets dizzy and falls from exhaustion). As global warming just keeps building on itself till the ecological balance fails, and this planet will no longer sustain the teeming human populations.

Greenhouse effect cure (there are no real cures but this may help till we can find one). First I want to point out that there are no real, viable short term, or easy methods of curing our Global warming woes. The damage to the environment has already been done and is, for all intent and purposes, basically irreversible. It is likely, however, that any type of plan to get rid of Global warming, will require some type of dramatic ecological compromises.

Some will say that all we need to do is give up industry on the planet and the world will eventually go back to the way it was. I say it is too late for that solution (as a short term solution anyway).

My plan, however, will require the use of old tires and recycled plastics. Of course it will require some engineering feats also, and a few ecological compromises. The benefits of using these wasted products will far outweigh the compromises required.

My idea is to build large floating islands (white on top, to reflect sunlight back out of our planet) made from used tires (filled with co2) and recycled plastics. Yes there are engineering and ecological problems, but everyone has to admit there are worse problems in our current situation. So the only feasible solution is to build a bunch of artificial reflection "islands" across the planet.

There will be other benefits realized, once we build enough of these islands. One of the problems associated with the increased temperatures we are experiencing is the possibility of increased hurricane intensity and frequency. Having enough of these floating islands in strategic points in the oceans will help to alleviate this problem also. It is a well known fact that hurricanes form in areas of the ocean where the temperature rises above approximately 80 degrees Fahrenheit. If we can keep those areas below that temperature (by reflecting sunlight away), we can prevent the formation of hurricanes. Without these floating islands, hurricanes will probably continue to increase in intensity and frequency…

We need a solution to deal with our Global warming woes, and we need it now. Even if this is a difficult path to follow, it will pay off in the future. The overall problems I see for Greenhouse effect is that we can go green all we want, but Global warming and our constant desire to be comfortable, will eventually undermine any efforts we may do. Unless we can get rid of some of the excess heat in this world, we will always be under the eventual threat of a thermal overheating demise.

  8. Global warming is a crock of ****.

    Oops, pardon my french.

It's a part of the natural advancement of our earth, there have been times like this before, long ago.  We see it as global warming because we gauge everything as to the length of our lives, when in reality, the changes we notice in our lives is such a small window of time in the history of earth.

Now, pollution is bad and stuff, and we do need to protect our planet because eventually it will come back to haunt us, but Al Gore is a giant tool. Yep.

  9. it's a natural p[rocess, without it, we'd be dead because it keeps the earth warm, however, man is making the ozone layer make the earth too hot. Naturally though Global warming is just a natural prcess, we're making it worse though as the temperature is getting too hot.

  10. bit of both

but we HAVE changed many local environments and local climates all over the planet.

    http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/glo...

Global warming is but a component, in a group of destructive forces at work such as ;deforestation, desertification, soil and water contamination ,irresponsible or wasteful utilization of bio resources , air pollution,Non sustainable Agriculture, over pumping carbon aquifers

all concepts which are definitely not part of the Natural Processes of the Natural world

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

    WHICH WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR,

The most prolific growth on this planet is part of the day in the mist and most of the time under clouds ,and the least growth is always directly in the sun .

To exchange the one for the other means changing local climates

We are exchanging Nature with Tar , concrete and open spaced mono cultures.

In 300 years half of the planets forests have gone ,and in the last 50 years half of the wet lands ,and rain forests

These Areas absorb heat during the day and release heat at night ,

Cause cloud formation(shade).humidifying the air on the surface as well as releasing excess water at the roots that keep rivers flowing ,which in turn brings more water into the Environment .

As well as contributing to absorbing carbon emissions as do the leaves of the trees together with the oceans .

All in all many factors which directly affect the local Environment .

The loss of the above resulting in rivers drying up ,less rain ,desertification, loss of habitat for many species and so on.

dryer and hotter surface environments which can manifest in different weather patterns such as tornadoes or bush fires

I may be stupid or Naive but somehow i believe that lots of these local environmental changes, can add up to affect global weather, If there are enough of them (and there are)

And then on top of that comes the story of the effects of pollutants released into Nature and especially the Air ,by MAN http://earthissues.multiply.com/photos/a...

A cocktail of events and a lot of the ingredients have MAN written all over them

So it is safe to assume that we should look at ourselves ,for possible improvements ,and rectifying Eco errors that are with in our powers.

    What is a safer bet

to be or not to be

  11. nobody knows for sure probally a lil of both.

  12. In my opinion, it's a naturally occuring cycle...but due to man made chemicals we're speeding it up by creating more of a green house effect than there would have been without all the chemicals.

However, i'm probably entirely wrong...I'm not a scientist...and they probably don't know for sure either!

  13. It's been warming and cooling for the last 800 million years, but I have to agree with Al Gore that it's all mans doing.

  14. In terms of global warming...where on the globe is this happening?  Not in the polar regions.  Not in the Americas.  Australia and Aisa? Nope.

The answer is: it's not getting warmer anywhere.  Maybe day to day weather is making it seem so at times, but the climate is NOT changing.  There is no global warming of any kind!!!!!

Nobody can honestly name a place where global warming is increasing temperatures.

  15. it is a little of both, because of mans pollution  we're affecting the enviroment ALOT!

its also caused from things such as volcanos and fires which can also be man made.

there is alot of tihngs going on in this world and 1 of the only things you can do is try to help by yourself and with your friends and family!

    have fun trying to help

    ps..

i always try to help (use publix reusable bags they're only .99)

  16. I've heard that it's more natural than man made,  I think we conduct about 2% of the erosive quality. Scores of scientists believe that it is a period of the earth, a natural occurrence where big changes occur, similar to their "flood" or "ice age" theories.

  17. both

  18. it's absolutely naturally caused

Back in the 30s temperatures were similar to now, the way they were rising and the way the glaciers were melting, the only thing not the same was human awareness = )

  19. The sun is not man made.  The sun warms the earth.

  20. ok, just because Im a conservative doesnt mean I trash the environment on purpose or litter. And not everyone can run out and buy a prius.

liberals think they have the answer to everything.

like DDT. 350 million to 500 million people a year in Asia, Africa and South America die from malaria. More than 80 percent are in rural Africa. Just so you libs could save some birds. thats absolutely disgusting.

and your stupid lightbulbs have mercury in them. So when you throw them away it poisons animals at the dump.

just stay out of it! you make evrything worse.

    global warming isn't real!!!!

    Here are some facts:

    1) If you took every car off every road in the US the temperature would change less than a TENTH OF A DEGREE!

    2) People cause 3.5% of temperature change with .4% coming from cars.

    3) The polar bear population has gone from 5000 to 25000 in 10 years and for some reason, they are still being put on the threatened list! they can swim!

    4) 5 billion dollars a year is wated by the US government to research "climate change"

    5) no one has proved why the hole in the ozone layer appeared, so the theory that the extreme cold caused it is just as credible as the theory thet cfcs or whatever caused it.

    6) Al Gore shows his audience a slide of CO2 concentrations, and a slide of historical temperatures. But for very good reason he does not combine them in one overlaid slide: Historically, atmospheric CO2, as often as not, increases after warming. This is typical in the campaign of claiming “consensus” to avoid debate (consensus about what being left unspoken or distorted).

    7) American grocery stores are starting to introduce food rationing. Wal Mart is restricting the amount of rice customers can buy. In Mexico and Yemen, in Egypt and Indonesia, the poor are taking to the streets to protest massive rise in food prices as well as shortages. A short distance from our shores, the troubled nation of Haiti is in crisis again; Haitians, dependent on U.S. grain imports, have seen those dry up and have been reduced to eating cakes of dirt.

    8) one tank of ethanol wastes enough food to feed a starving person for a year!! one tank!

    9) ehtnaol produces more CO2 than regular gas

    10) the models the ipcc uses are fake. even when fed random "red noise" they still made hocky stick curved graphs!!!

less than 20 years ago they were freaking out about the next ice age!!!!

what more wil it take to convince you? why believe what politicians and liberal "scientists" say when you can just look at the science and prove it wrong!?

and just because I am a republican and dont believe in global warming does not mean i am pro litter/ pollution. it means i am pro common sense!

global warming is a MYTH! It has been repeated soooo many times without many true conservatives stopping it, it has been accepted as fact.
