Is global warming real? or is it global cooling?

everyone where i live insists global warming is real but its getting colder here.... could it be global cooling? and whats making the globe wam.... cool anyway?!!? i need answers!!!! (small town)

It was real, but the evidence indicates that it has slowed if not stopped. This halt of global warming was predicted, the real question is will the warming continue or will the climate continue cool. It is my belief that world will cool, and by the middle of this century people will be praying for global warming to come back.

It is global warming, as it melts the ice in antarctica, it's not as bad in most countries, but I have noticed that when it's suppose to be "cold" it's actually pretty warm for a supposedly "cold" day!

IMHO, global warming is a hoax. In fact, the UK has banned Al Gore's book from their schools because it lacks scientific support. The former CEO of weather.com, has declared it to be a hoax as well. If you look at the data, mean temperatures on the earth directly follow sunspot activity.

Think about it intuitively, we've only had reliable weather data for 80 years! How could we possibly make an authoritative conclusion merely on data spanning 80 years! How old is the earth again?

The greenhouse effect is a natural effect that allows life on earth. Greenhouse gases such as methane, water vapor, and co2 act like a greenhouse; they let sunlight and heat in from the sun and then they keep some of it in.

However, since the industrial revolution, humans have been adding a lot more co2 into the atmosphere (mostly through burning fossil fuels). Adding a large amount of co2 increases the greenhouse effect, keeping more heat in the atmosphere, causing global warming.

It may be a little cooler right now where you live, but that's weather.  Weather is short term and local.  Global warming is about climate (weather over a long period of time).

Global warming is real.  Scientific organizations like NAS, AAAS, and NASA have done a lot of research and they are saying that global warming is happening, it is man's fault, and if we don't do something about it, the results will most likely be disasterous.

It's real, and it's warming.

Global warming doesn't eliminate local weather.  Some places can still cool while the planet as a whole warms.

Here is a graph from NASA showing what the temperature of the planet is doing.  It's based on thousands of temperature stations across the planet.

Its Global Warming.

Maybe your town is getting colder because...

Well idk.

Its global warming because our poles (North and South poles) are beginging to melt. (The ice I mean) And some animals need ice to live on. Maybe they don't know how to swim. So the cause of the ice melting causes the animals to drown. And what I think and many other ppl think is that when ALL the ice melts it will drown EVERYONE and then we all die. Its scary but it MIGHT be true.

For starters,

Global warming is whats making the globe warm.

It happens because the O-Zone layer is breaking away.

The O-Zone layer is what protects our Earth from the sun's rays.

Since the O-Zone layer is being broken away(by chemicals and pollution) the sun's rays are more powerful.

More heat gets to the Earth which cause Global Warming.

Secondly,

It is getting colder.

Which most people think would prove Global Warming is wrong.

That is definitly wrong.

The reason its getting colder is:

Cold molecules are in the air.

As more of the suns rays come it releases more hot molecules.

Hot molecules move faster than cold ones.

So when they come down, they are bouncing everywhere and they push the cold molecules down first.

That is why it is getting colder.

Once all the cold molecules are gone, it will get hotter because we only get the hot molecules.

Lastly, Global cooling will never happen.

I hope you understand GLobal Warming now.

It's an awful thing.

That will one day lead to the end of the world.

To do your part in stopping it.

You less electric, water, gas, pollution.

Taking a scientific approach, I researched several scientific databases. After reading the NASA data where they talk about how the surface temperature of all nine planets in the solar system is rising in direct relationship to their distance from the sun (except Jupiter which is also warming from it's own internal heat), and how they measured that - I don't worry about global warming anymore.

I can't change the heat output of the sun nor the solar cycles, nor can I change the surface temperatures of the other planets. These things are simply beyond my power to even influence.

I trust one of the most cited climatologists in the world, Reid A. Bryson (RIP).  He says that 80% of outward radiation (reflected energy) is absorbed by water, and only 0.08% by CO2.  I love his statement:

"You can go outside and spit and have the same effect as doubling carbon dioxide."

The overly complicated climate models ignore too much to be valid.
