Is globalization & the dominance of Western values, strengthening religion?

in the Middle East, as it alienates non-Westerns, putting them in need of a stronger sense of identity and unity among themselves? Or will globalization have the opposite effect of bringing the two together for mutual economic gains?

Finally a Q worth answering.

Globalization is Satan's goal.  If he couldn't do it with western values he will try with Islamic values.  He doesn't care who gets him there, he just wants it so he can rule the Earth.

It is an interpretation in many religions about the "end times" that Globalization is a sign of the end of times.   So I guess that would mean it will strengthen religious zealousness and create more religious wars instead of border wars.

Quite the opposite.

As Western secular values continue their ascendence, members of highly religious orders everywhere will become increasingly marginalized.

If western monies can provide jobs for a Palestinian or Iraqi family, ultimately, a good father does what he needs to do to feed his family.  Most people do not want to carry a gun in order to live.  The problem is not enough Western or Asian investment occurs due to political instability.

This is exactly why al Queda and other fringe groups have any traction.  Members feel that they are losing their importance in the world and strike back with the limited resources they have available.  By destroying attempts at development, they can continue to blame others for widespread poverty despite the presence of generations' of oil wealth.

As globalization creates new billionaires and millionaires among the slow growing middle classes of the region, more and more Muslims will become more secular.  If they do not, they will lose out to Muslims and non-Muslims who adapt to the new reality

As African countries start to gain the lion's share of investment, in the coming decades, Middle East peoples will have to ask how those countries can develop and not themselves.
