I understand there are many religions and obviously many false prophets and so on, however, Science can disprove many religions but not god. Is it on opposite sides or is it just a number?

Your side or opinion?

  1. God is truth there is no getting around that and the fact that we sit here on earth and try to tell Him that He does not exist or that He did not create the universe is some thing that we need to stop doing. God is the only thing in the universe that makes sense. take God out of the equation and we have nothing more than meaningless people living on a meaningless earth who die a meaningless death. think about that one and remember to put Christ first in all aspects of your life. God bless.

  2. I do think religions have been and are a way for people to answer "unanswerable" questions. In every culture there have been mythical beings who have begun life and/or have played roles in answering questions of humanity. Why are we here? Why do bad things happen? Why do good things happen? Why do I need to behave in the way I have been told? What happens to me when I die? Why do I live? All religions have tales of magical-mythical beings who have answered these questions.

I think it is important for cultures to be able to identify themselves WITH the powers of the earth that are really out of their control-----flood, fire, tornado, earthquake, pestilence, starvation, etc.......

Religion is important in that it gives people a sense of control over life and death and a sense of hope for themselves and their future offspring.

Does God exist?--- Of course--but who's? All of them exist to someone somewhere...

  3. Religious beliefs are at odds at science when people treat them as competing sources of facts about the universe. But you can also interpret them in terms of myths and metaphor--stories that can indirectly bring us into a deeper understanding of our place in the universe, i.e. non-factual spiritual wisdom. There are mystical interpretations of God that are compatible with modern science, but most religious people do not like them: they are not as comforting as the typical idea of a divine father-figure with a knowable personality and desires. This is what creates the conflict between science and religion.

  4. Some false and pagan religions of times past and today have relegated natural phenomena to "god" which science is good to dispel. The earth does not rest on the back of an elephant or turtles....Mt Olympus has no palaces filled with gods, thunder and lightning do not originate with Zeus, volcanoes are not the forges of Thor, the moon is not swallowed by a dragon during an eclipse, etc..Some people TODAY still believe that a dragon swallows the moon during an eclipse! While some natural occurences may be attributed to an all-powerful God, that is not to say that all are caused by Him. The basis of science (should be) is to determine what can be explained by the laws of nature and what cannot. All non-natural creations or events require a Creator.

But science also means "knowledge" and the true facts and understanding of our scientific knowledge show that there is a Creator of all things. Man has a hole in his soul and an in-born knowledge of eternity that can only be filled with God...be He the true God or a false, man-made one which is evident from all the thousands of beliefs and superstitions/myths in the world. The Bible states that God is omniscient...or "all-knowledgeable" and our understanding through science leads us to knowing and understanding a part of who the true God is and has created. Indeed, many early Christian scientists were inspired by the Bible to seek out answers to questions and many, if not most, of our modern sciences were founded by them.

The Bible tells us to 'prove all things" and that "it is the Glory of God to conceal things and the Glory of Kings (man) to investigate a matter."

Man's curiosity about our world and universe are God-given interests and scientific examination so that we may gradually know how magnificent God's creative powers truly are. Humans are really miniature universes themselves with trillions of cells...each one as complex as a small city... and billions of interconnecting functions and brain synapses, tens of thousands of miles of blood vessels, etc...

The human brain is more complex than all of the universe combined....the vastly complex and compact informational, self-correcting and self-reproducing code of DNA is billions of times more complex than any computer software or hardware we have today yet a segment of DNA from every human on earth would fit in an aspirin tablet. We also know that non-material informational systems such as DNA do not arise from material objects through purely random, natural chance occurrences. Randomness is the opposite of information. Informational systems such as DNA (which has been called the language or software of life) or textual speech have no mass in and of themselves....a book has the same mass as another book of an equal amount of random letters. The informational system of context, syntax and meaning has no mass and is a non-material entity....they are intelligently assigned, require the agreement of two parties and also require an intelligent designer. Even cryptic codes of random letters or symbols have an intelligently designed code "key".

  5. I think God and Science can co-exist.  I believe God is an over-seer of natural occurances.  For instance, in the Bible, God says, "Let there be light".  Maybe this is refering to the big bang?  It also says that God created Earth in 7 days, but God is infinite, so perhaps 7 days to God is 7 billion years to Earth.
