  1. gold can be recycled, so it's not exactly nonrenewable.

considering the fact that gold is not used as coins anymore, and is not destroyed when used, I'd say that renewable definition is irrelevant to gold.

  2. By "renewable resource" we usually mean a resource that can be replenished/ renewed, so that the supply of that resource is not exhausted by using it.

Solar energy and hydroelectric power are examples of this, as is the current rage of extracting methanol from corn (harvest it and plant more!)

    So, gold?

If it were being "consumed" (as in: made to cease to exist), do we replace it by "creating" more?

While it usually isn't "used up", it is "employed" and can be recovered when no longer needed in that capacity and, to get more, we don't "create" more, but rather we "find" more.

So, no, gold would not be considered a "renewable" resource.

  3. no

  4. Here's a good benchmark:  anything that comes out of the Earth is a nonrenewable resource.  Minerals, fossil fuels, precious stones, etc.

The link below does a great job of walking you through what is renewable and what isn't.  Some great environmental tips as well.

  5. if it was renewable it wouldnt be so d**n expensive, now would it. lets say i had a kind of rock that is very shiny and nice, but there is an infinite supply. whose gonna pay any money for it.

now i have a rock that is shiny and pretty but theres only 10 grams of it left on the planet. now in bankin'. if its expesnive, its NOT renewable. duh!

  6. Why? Did YOU figure out a way to make more of it?

  7. yes.

  8. Gold is a mineral and like all minerals it is nonerenawable.

    But it can be recycled.

Its obviously used in jewelry but also widely used in the electronics industry like in mobile phones and various other circuit boards which can also be recycled.

  9. Yes it is. If you could find a way to produce it you would be the wealthiest person on earth.
