Golf is both physical and mental, much more than many games.   Its you against the golf course as opposed to team games which most Americans watch.

Definately a sport, why?...

For one, it would have too be the most played game on this Earth.

Two, it requires ability to play, you cant bluff your way around it... Unlike say 'American Football', 'duhhh give me da ball coach, I runded flat out till I smashded on da ground' wow you must be good at that sport to do that.

Three, requires Stamina, yes I will admit nothing unlike a marathon.. but you do need it.

Yeah that would be my reasons into my its a sport. Freakin Nascar is a sport??...

people overlook coordination when considering athletes. you might be big and fast but being skilled is just as important for athletics. so yeah, golf is a sport

If it is covered by Sports Illustrated, then it must be a sport. That includes Swimsuits, Chess and Golf. Thanks.

On the other hand any so called "sport" where points are deducted because of poor make up or clothing, is highly doubtful as a sport. I don't think they do that for golf.

Yes.  It involves a great deal of physical coordination, ability to walk long distances, provides a work out for the body, requires skill.   It doesn't provide bashing each other like so many of the other sports do.  It seems to me to be an intelligent sport.

I am 19 and play golf and baseball my whole life. Golf is a sport and a very hard one at that. I am not saying it is a hard physical sport. sure It is tiring to carry a bag around for 4 hours and have to keep a good swing in order. I played high school golf and it was by far a mentally draining sport. Try focusing every shot for 4 hours and not letting really bad shots s***w you over. I shoot low/mid 70's and it has taken lots of work to make it to that point.
