  1. no, its mostly about weather you drive the ball in the fairway or not and how far you hit it, thats pretty much it

  2. 90% mental, the other half physical.

Breathe easy, relax your shoulders before a shot.

  3. The great Bobby Jones famously stated, “Golf is a game that’s played on a five-inch course – the distance between your ears.”

Advice:  Less thinking.  Tiger says he tries to only have one thought in his head during his swing.  Over analyzing is detrimental to your game.

  4. The game is mostly physical. BUT the mental game separates players of similar ability.  A scratch golfer who is a head case is still going to destroy a ten handicap.  At the highest levels of play, absolutely, the mental game is mainly what separates the winners and the also-rans.

  5. It's both.   Here is a list of books that might help you.   But go to the bookstore and browse thru them first.   See if you like any of them before you buy.

  6. golf is a great deal mental, being nervous or affriad of shots cuases tension where tension shouldn't exist...

  7. Well, sure, a flippant answer might be drive it in the fairway, hit greens and make putts.  Pretty simple.

But doing all those things, and doing them consistently, in competition, is largely a mental thing.

It's all about focus, preparation and self-confidence.  Be prepared for everything and your mental game will improve.

  8. You can have the greatest golf swing, but not do very well because your mind isn't in the right place. A golfer with a mediocre swing and a great mind game will do MUCH better than the one with the great swing but bad mind game.

In my opinion, and lots of others agree, golf is 10% physical and 90% mental.

To have a great mental game, you need to be positive, that is the key. A person who doesn't have the greatest mind game usually is the one who gets mad after a poor shot, throws clubs, curses, etc.

A person with a great mind game will forget about the bad shots, learn from them, and continue on to the next shot with a great attitude.

More often then not you will hit your greatest shots when you are in a good state of mind, and you will hit poor shots more often then not when you have a poor attitude.

    Hope I helped a bit.

  9. The best tip i ever give someone for helping their mental game is to not think about the shot at all.  After you make your decision on what you want to do, just start singing a song you like in your head.  It not only relaxes you but it allows to rid yourself of the pressures and tensions that go along with every shot.
