  1. Gravity of the earth depends on electric and magnetic fields and these fiels depend on the speed, forces of the rotation of the earth.

So if the earth stops to rotate then there will not be any gravity...

But even if the rotetion stops the revolution contonues and due to sun's gravitational pull earth will not move away from the orbit.

But this gravitation will not effect the internal gravitation of the earth neither it will generate any gravitation...

the forces will generate only due to humans and all the particles that are present in the atmosphere. This is there in all the planet...

Every planet has different forces which causes the rotation.

This is what is the theory of gravitation.

  2. No. In fact, gravity would appear to become very slightly stronger, at least around the equator; it would stay the same right at the poles. The difference would not be enough for most people to notice, though.

What we WOULD notice, if the Earth stopped rotating, would be that our days would be far longer than normal. If the Earth stopped rotating relative to the Sun, we would literally have daytime constantly on one side and nighttime constantly on the other side. If it stopped rotating relative to the rest of the Milky Way, then we would get one day/night cycle every year. In both cases, the day side would become extremely hot and the night side very cold, and it is unlikely that human civilization could survive.

  3. nah gravity isx just substance of air nd mass 2 keep u n the ground

  4. NO

    BECAUSE

g which is GRAVITATION DUE TO GRAVITY depends onSPEED and MASS.

  5. Almost everyone will say that when the spin of the earth ceases, there will still be gravity as if they are 100% sure that there will still be mass and gravity with or without spin.

Actually we don't even know how gravity is propagated nor whether the spin of a mass is needed for the mass to exits.

There is a theory that motion is a requirement for mass to exist and that there should be at least three modes of motion for mass to maintain its identity as  physical body.

We are not sure that this theory holds, yet neither can we be sure that mass can exist without spin. Even the subatomic particles must have spin by themselves.

So can anybody really say with 100% certainty that the earth will still remain as a planetary body when it stops rotating or that gravity will not disappear once the spin of the earth stops?

My stand is that we don't know.

Let us not be fanatics to unproven hypothesis.

  6. No, gravity is determined by the amount of mass, not by spinning. On the other hand, if the earth stopped spinning, there would be no 'centripetal force', so we would all be (slightly) heavier.

  7. Nah. A object has gravity as long as it has mass.

Edited because I just recalled my basic Physics and mixed my facts up with the disappearing of the magnetic field.

  8. No. Gravity has nothing to do with rotation. It is a fundamental force like electromagnetism and the two nuclear forces.

  9. Gravity will not stop as this force only depends on mass of any body irrespective of rotation or any kind of motion.

If earth stops rotating, the people on equator will start weighing more because there will be no centrifuge to keep their weight normal.

All the buildings will collapse down due to inertia.

Some effects of whether will also be seen.

  10. good grief, what a hodge podge of answers.  Gravity is an effect of mass, period.  It is unrelated to speed, air, position, whose president, or anything else.  If earth stopped rotating, one said, one side will be hot the other cold...nope, since for that to occur, the earth would need to rotate once per revolution, like the moon does now.

    So, gravity<>mass  ;   mass<>gravity

  11. No, gravity is an effect of mass.  Has nothing to do with rotation.  The only thing that would happen if earth stopped rotating is one side would get really hot and the other side would get really cold.

  12. First of all, the earth could not possibly stop rotating.

Secondly, gravity is unrelated to rotation.
