  1. Basically, everything inside the M25 motorway is part of London.

  2. the poster Paris doesn't know London very well ... the City of London is one of the boroughs and is the ancient Roman fort area around the Tower of London ... as this is the area that nowadays has all the financial institutions in it when you refer to "The City" you usually means banks, stock exchange etc

the commercial part (Oxford Street, :Piccadilly etc) is usually referred to as "The West End" because when it originally expanded it was at the west end of The City

there's lots of different areas of London that get called an area name but when people refer generally to "London" they're usually meaning all the boroughs, which roughly speaking is everying within the M25 (that's not totally accurate but is a good guide)

  3. greater london is the City of London AND all the 32 boroughs

(Hillingdon to Havering, or Enfield to Croydon)

  4. the whole place is named london,

the cntrl: trafalga square, buckingham palace, oxford street, thats all known as the city of london, or london city.

greater london, is the boroughs around london, east, north, south + west, and all the towns inside them.
