Is green salad appropriate for a wedding?

Is green salad appropriate for a wedding reception?My brother is getting married at our parents house and they want to serve green salad with their refreshments is that tacky? Thanks

I don't see why it would be tacky. As long as the bride and groom are comfortable with it, it should be fine. I'm not really sure what foods would be tacky at a wedding reception. Some people might say anything messy is tacky but who's been to a wedding that didn't have bbq weenies?

I think the guest will enjoy the salad as long as there are several different dressings to choose from.

That sounds good to me,but it would be better if they had more than one salad with the refreshments.

Why would it be tacky?  If its a refreshment only reception not at a meal time or accompanied by other foods it should be fine.  

Want to add something, top off with grilled chicken or shrimp or palce on the side so veggitatians are happy too!

Do you mean a salad made from lettuce (or other salad green) or that awful concoction made from Jell-O, Cool Whip, canned fruit & marshmallows?

Actual salad is fine. It’s typically served at nice sit-down dinners. However, I’d throw a fit about the latter option too. That stuff looks and tastes terrible.

Not at all. I think it'd be tacky if it wasn't served. I've been to a couple weddings and they've all had salads. A lot of people are starving and waiting for a nice meal so it gets a little something in their stomachs before hand.

Just salad? Or is that a part of a meal? If it's just salad, that does sound a bit strange, but if it's a part of a meal, that's actually quite common.
