Is grilled cheese in America the same as cheese on toast or like a cheese toasty?

I don't know what cheese toasty is but I do know that grilled cheese in America is made like this:

Butter one side of two pieces of bread

Lay the button side down onto a skillet with cheese and then the other piece of bread with the butter side out

Grill the bread until it is golden and crispy and then flip to do the same to the other side

The result is a grilled sandwich with melty cheese in the middle!

Cheese toasty is where you put it in the broiler and only have one piece of bread ...no butter anywhere.

Grilled cheese is where you butter both sides of bread and put cheese in middle of bread and brown on both sides.Serve w your favorite condiment.Mustard is our love and dill pickles.
