Is there difference in what is healthier for you?

You grow your own, buy organic, or buy from farmers markets, is there a difference to the choice you chose or one that is better than the other or healthier?

  1. Growing Your own is always better!! You will enjoy it more.PLUS what is very important here is the fact that you know  your veggies were harvested with Love :) and that makes a big difference.

Try it with a few herbs first, then maybe tomatos :)

    Enjoy

  2. my mom grows her own veggies and i think they taste more fresh!

  3. There are several advantages in growing them yourself instead of buying them organic.

    1.  Organic farmers use F.D.A approved pesticides. Growing them yourself guarantees that they are pesticide free.

    2.  Growing your own is cheaper and just as nutritious.

    3.  Avoiding patronage of supermarkets reduces the carbon footprint of your food.  Vegetables are often shipped in from hundreds and sometimes even thousands of miles on eighteen wheelers.

    4.  You've stopped buying vegetables that contribute to inadvertent animal deaths.  Billions of animals are plowed over every year when farmers harvest large commercial crops.

  4. yes, and they probably taste better!!

  5. The closer they are grown to where you live, the fresher they are and have more nutrients.

Personally, I grow a little (herbs and tomatoes), but I buy a lot at the local farmers market.

  6. Growing your own is the best way to go.

Nothing beats picking a basket of fresh veggies for a spinach salad

or for making some stir fry.    Farmers markets are the next best thing. But organic in food stores are not truly organic, and all the stores that sell veggies have them shipped in, so they will never be near as fresh as from your own yard.  Green thumb up!  I do it and I love it!

  7. supposedly if you grow them you wont use chemicals. So doing it yourself would be more inexpensive.

  8. Growing them yourself can make them large and ripe! perfect for eating and wonderful for you...plus you planted them! it just feels good...!

  9. There should be no difference.  Keep in mind some products say organic but they are truly not.  There are key words you need to look for when shopping, like certified organic.

  10. It will definetly be beneficial to your health as well as being convenient, inexpensive and a fun hobby to grow your own vegetables.
