Question:

Is gymnastics really a sport?

Gymnasts are no doubt the most athletic people in the world. However, they are performing a practiced sequence of movements and then judged on the outcome based on difficulty. To me that is not a sport. It is a performance competition or pageant. I have no problem with it being in the Olympics, but I hate when gymnastics and ice skating are called sports. It may fit the dictionary meaning of a sport but so dues cooking. Please post your thoughts for or against me!

That being said good luck to the USA girls tonight!

  1. Winning based of difficulty is c**p.

You get a better score if you do something difficult and f*ck it up than if you do something simple perfectly. It's not right.

  2. It is a sport and an Art.

  3. h**l yes!! Gymnastics is a sport!

Gymnasts practice just about every single day for at least 4 and a half hours! sometimes we even go twice a day!

How many people can actually throw them selves around and manage to land on their feet again without being hurt!

This Sport takes so much dedication and time you have no idea!!

Plus we train year around and trying to perfect these things they may look simple but they are not!

And basketball players and volleyball players practice what they are going to do too! They just dont know when they are going to do that move!

  4. I agree, how often does gymnastics, figure skating, and diving go into overtime? How often are their upsets? I like cannonballs, how come my opinon doesn't matter?
