Question:

Is happiness merely a matter of hormons?

Some years ago I was really depressed and unhappy. After a while, doctors found out that my body was missing a thyroid hormon which could cause all that. And they were right, after I added the missing hormon artificially via medicine to my body, I soon felt better and the world looked all brighter.

Do you think hormons can change a whole world view?

Are our thoughts really that dependant on physical things?

I have a doubt the answers to this question will heavily depend on the category in which I post it ...

  1. Sorry to disappoint you.Feelings are just chemicals in your brain.Feelings like love.Thats right.Love.There isnt something celestial that creates them.It is all in your mind and created by your mind for the purpose of increasing your chances of survival.

Cold eh?That is how the universe is.A cold place.

  2. Yes and no. An imbalance of chemicals in the brain can prevent you from feeling happy, and cause depression and anxiety. So yes. But no amount of medication is going to make you happy if you have no reason to feel that way. So no.

  3. Certainly your body chemicals can affect our mood and state of "happiness" but that certainly isn't all. Our situation, lifestyle, monetary state, etc can all affect how we feel. There is so much which affects happiness, and that is different for everyone

  4. I think its your attitude.
