  1. Lucid dreaming is being in a dream, and being aware that you're dreaming. More vivid dreams might tend to be the opposite of this.

  2. A similar question to this came up on Coast to Coast AM last night (early morning) about if a vivid dream might be a precognitive (telling the future dream). According to Maj. Paul Smith (former Remote Viewing) the only way to determine precognition is something coming true that confirms the dream.

It would be interesting to study if recorded precognitive dreams are more vivid than the person's normal dream pattern.

In any event Vivid dreams are just more clear, in color, lots of detail, easily recalled, etc. but you still have no awareness or control of the dream during the dream.

In Lucid Dreaming you are not only aware that you are dreaming but have some control over the dream even some beyond your own actions in the dream. For example you could fly (normal in dreams) rather than fall or you could change the hard ground below you into the ocean or a swimming pool (with water please) but then other parts of the setting are reported to change as well (that you did not intend to change).

In all the above dreams keeping a dream journal is a good idea.

  3. I think a vivid dream becomes lucid when we realize we have some type of control in the dream. For example, I had a dream where I was standing by a lagoon and I dove in after something.

When I was underwater, I stopped for a moment and panicked then realized that I was dreaming therfore I could breath and did not have to worry about holding my breath.Nothing exciting happened as I felt coming to the realization that I could be under water and breath was exciting enough!

I had the best time swimming around without a care. The water was merky and there were old stumps, water plants -it was so real. I could feel the pressure of the water while swimming against it.

  5. Not at all. Lucid dreams are when you are aware that you are dreaming, and can then control your reactions, and sometimes the environment and reactions of other dream characters. In fact, vivid dreams might DECREASE your chances of becoming lucid because you are more involved in the dream.
