Should you just be able to have a door to your room, a must or a privilege?

Is it, if so, why?

  1. Some parents would say privilege. But I think its a must because everyone needs privacy.

  2. i would say its kind of a must unless everyone wants to see you change clothes.. privacy is kind of necessary sometimes and if people want in... they can knock like every other (respectful) person on this earth

  3. I agree with Nicole - in a safe family situation it is a privilege. The only privacy that a child/teen needs to reserve the right to at home (that would be affected by the removal of a bedroom door) is bodily privacy -- and the child/teen can change clothes in the bathroom if his/her door is removed.

  4. Not having a door is so ridiculous! I cant imagine telling my children that it is a privilege to have privacy , unless they have made me believe that they aren't trust worthy (such as using drugs or hurting themselves) But just to be a out of control parent trying to prove a point how degrading. I'm a parent my self mind you and I think that this is absurd

  5. It depends on the situation.

In a safe family situation it is a privilege.

Privacy is to be prized and not taken advantage of.

  6. its a must!, my friends parents take his door away sometimes so he just takes it back, if you are changing then you need a door unless your parents are sickos + just wanna see you naked!

  7. It's totally a privilege. If you want to have privacy and be able to change your clothes in your room or talk on the phone without the whole house hearing, you have got to follow the rules.

For those who say it's a right because you need privacy to change your clothes etc... well, that's what a bathroom is for.
