Is having a internal wireless card better than one connected via usb?

ive always wondered that...im really not going to use the slots on my motherboard for anything i already have all i need (sound card) and dont really care about anything else...is a internal card better than a wireless network adapter connected via usb

  1. I prefer a USB card with 2 USB extension cables as you can move it around to find the most bars.

    And If you have a flash drive to copy the driver disk to.you can take it anywhere.


  2. Generally speaking, YES. I mean, if the internal card is like 5 yrs old and the external is bad-*** and brand new, then sure, the external one would be better. But all things being equal, the internal one is way better. Not to mention you won't accidently kick it or something like that.  

  3. It does not matter if you use a USB or PCI (Internal Wireless Card). The only thing matters is the type of technology you are using. eg. 802.11 b operates at a speed of 10 Mbps, while 802.11g operates at a speed of 54 Mbps. while new standard 802.11n operates at very high speed (max speed 300 Mbps). External Card is normally used if you do not have any spare PCI slot in your system or you would like to use same card in different machines.
